[edit]Expand tag is because Colonel Condon's ranking is missing every date after his lieutenancy, which is a real shame since mustang army officers were rare birds until after WWII. Cheers V. Joe 17:55, 25 December 2006 (UTC)
Final Rank
[edit]I just updated Condon's information by researching old newspapers of the era. While I've left his final rank as LtCol, I am not confident that was true. He was once (Dec. 1901) considered for a major's billet in the Army JAG, but I can't find whether he was appointed to the billet. He was still identified as a Second Lieutenant in 1902. He was identified as selected for Captain in March 1911, but I could not find the actual date of promotion. He did see service as a Major in the Philippine Scouts from 1909-1911. However, after he returned to the US, his rank was identified as Captain. His gravestone identifies his final rank as Captain. As well, the notices of his death in various newspapers identify his rank as Captain. It is possible that he received a posthumous promotion, and they applied to his rank when serving in the Philippine Scouts, but I am not familiar with instances where a posthumous promotion would apply.--KMJKWhite (talk) 18:12, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
- Found reference to his promotions to 1stLt and Captain and added those. No luck with others.--KMJKWhite (talk) 20:51, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
