[edit]The article states that "The services are actually two separate sites situated on opposite sides of the motorway between junctions 5 and 6 in Kent on the border with Surrey". However, looking at maps, it would appear that this is actually the other way around, and the services are just in Surrey.
The services are located in Tandridge (district), the border with Sevenoaks district crossing the slip roads into (Clockwise), and out of (Anti-Clockwise) the services. However, the post town boundary is every so slightly different. This passes the services on the other side (even diverting to go round it), creating the weird situation that the services are in Surrey but just about have a Kentish Tonbridge postcode.
This is I assume where the misconception comes from; the postcode of the services (TN16) is shared by the nearby town of Westerham, which is in Kent, assumably why the address for Clacket Lane put it with the nearest town (Westerham), and then put with Kent, when that is incorrect.
The borders are very close (around 700 meters), but the services themselves are definitely in Surrey. The village of Tatsfield is in the same situation.
Any ideas? If not, I will correct it in due course. Arriva436talk/contribs 20:58, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- Note: An IP changed the infobox back in April. Arriva436talk/contribs 21:00, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Right, I've left it long enough, I will change the text. Arriva436talk/contribs 21:21, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

- Don't worry! I'm thinking about adding some info about the complexity of the situation, but it would take a while to get the wording right! Arriva436talk/contribs 20:54, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- This debate, although 4 years old, intrigued me - especially since another editor not in the discussion here has - assumingly in good faith - decided to try and adapt the template to his/her agenda by saying "Kent and Surrey" and crashed it in the process! (See diffs.) So I decided to do the "right thing" and find a reliable source. It doesn't come much more respectable in the UK than an online reproduction of an Ordnance Survey 1:25000 map. To be exact, a few metres of the tips of the eastbound slip roads are in Kent, but the entirety of the complex sits firmly in Surrey, including crucially the signs which denote the commencement of motorway regulations (and ergo the end of the service area) on the eastbound carriageway are about 200 metres inside Surrey. This I have established by comparing the map referenced in the article with the Google StreetView of the signs on this link (the westbound end of regs signs are under the Clacket lane bridge, even further west into Surrey). And breathe! Baldy Bill (sharpen the razor|see my reflection) 22:08, 8 October 2013 (UTC)
- There is an IP user (81.159.157.187) who has (through several attempts to get the infobox syntax to work his/her way) edited Kent back in. There are many points of wikipedia content which can be difficult to prove and cite accurately, but the physical location of a building does not change. Unless the government re-draw the county boundaries the service area is in Surrey, not Kent. If the Ordnance Survey and Google Streetview are not to be believed then what can we do? A further piece of evidence, if really needed - the county marker sign: on this view I have reverted the edit, as my edit is sourced and the IP's one is not.
