I will do the GA Reassessment on this article as part of the GA Sweeps project. H1nkles (talk) 17:28, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
I had to scratch my head a little with this article. It's often more difficult to review shorter articles on a very specific topic such as this one, than it is to review long articles with more information. That said I'll jump in and see what we have.
- Immediately what comes out to me is the length of the lead. Per WP:Lead the lead is to be a summary of all the points in the article. This lead is not sufficient. I don't read anything about the main street revitaliztion project, and the streetscape improvements. These should be added to the lead.
- In the Notable structures section I see where Sears had a store until 1991 in the Field Furniture building. What occupied that building since then? What currently occupies the building? It can't have been unoccupied for nearly 20 years right?
- I did some minor copy editing through out the article. Mostly minor edits.
- Why are there two different paragraphs on the Camayo arcade and the Henry Clay House and why are they not together? Also the last "paragraph" on the Henry Clay house is a stub paragraph, which should be expanded or combined with another paragraph.
- The main issue I have with the rest of the article is that it needs to be brought up to date. One quick read through will tell readers that the information hasn't been updated since 2007. "Providence hill is expected to be completed in late-2007". Is an example of what I'm talking about.
- I like the images, they are topical and well placed.
- The references are good, links are still solid and formatting is right.
At this point it appears to meet much of the GA Criteria. My main concerns are that the information be brought up to current, that the lead be expanded and that the Notable Structures section be better organized. I will put the article on hold for a week pending work. Please contact me on my talk page if you have any questions or concerns. H1nkles (talk) 17:43, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for notifying WikiProject Urban Studies about this review. While I agree with most of your comments above, I see more issues with the article, particularly in regards to criteria 3 (broad and focused). This article is supposed to be about the "cityscape" of Ashland, however it ultimately only provides a list of buildings, but nothing on how these relate to each other (i.e. form a cityscape). The section about public space does only describe some former proposals for improvement, but does not describe the current situation. No comprehensive information about the historical development of the city(scape) is provided. While the title suggests that the article would be about the cityscape of the whole city, it is only about its CBD. It would either need to describe other areas in the city as well, as most other cityscape articles do, or be renamed to "Cityscape of Ashland CBD". I find the illustrations also insufficient: the reader would expect to see at least one overall view of the cityscape, for instance a view from the Simeon Willis bridge, or from one of the taller buildings. I would rate it class C as it stands. Elekhh (talk) 20:56, 12 February 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you for your comments, I would certainly agree with what you're saying. As such to whomever decides to take on this article for fixes please consider User:Elekhh's comments as requirements for maintaining its GA status. If necessary I am willing to extend the hold but I need to know that there is an editor interesting in working on this article and I need to see progress on the same. Since no work has been done on the issues outlined here I will delist the article. H1nkles (talk) 16:28, 22 February 2010 (UTC)
