I changed the name of the council from Londonderry to Derry as this is the official name and it has a page, the other link was dead.--Shimbo 00:22, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are joking right? A MILLION people call the city and airport Londonderry and that is just in Ulster! Londonderry is the official and correct name of the city and Wikipedia should be using the proper name for the place! YourPTR! 19:26, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hope we are all well aware that different people use different names for Derry/Londonderry. However, this has all been discussed already and there is an agreed compromise in place (on wikipedia, the county is called Londonderry and the city Derry) this is official wikipedia policy (see WP:IMOS#Derry_.2F_Londonderry. --Shimbo 08:34, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Official Wikipedia policy goes against the Law in the United Kingdom. The City and the County are officially known as Londonderry, not Derry, Doire or any other sentimental rubbish. Wikipedia may not be governed by the Laws of the United Kingdom but its residents are! Consequently, they have no authority to make any agreements which related to the country or any of its residents. The official name is Londonderry and Londonderry it will stay on any informed sites which take themselves seriously or which sell themselves on publishing facts and not fiction.
