Animals
[edit]Were there actually monkeys in the Brisbane Botanic Gardens? I can't find any info on it... - Jo
There used to be monkeys, and other animals, in a zoo within the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens, but that was a long time ago.
- Some mention should be made of Harriet the Tortoise, who lived there for 99 years. - Matthew238 03:18, 19 November 2005 (UTC)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jo... Yes there were monkeys at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens. We used to feed them after church in the late 1950's. The cage/s were just inside the Albert St gates on the right hand side. First thing you saw when you went in from this gate. Hope this helps. Kirk G ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
History
[edit]By whom established the Brisbane city Botanical gardens?I can't find and information on it................
What was the Brisbane Botanical Garden's original use when it was first established? I can't find and information on it................
Plzz someone help!!!!!!!!!! -Jacqui
- Established by the government, the area was originally used as a garden area for the growing of crops to feed the penal colony. Nearly three decades later, the site was made into a Botanic Reserve, with scientific research being carried out on native plants. Also, agricultural experiments were carried out in the gardens to develop introduced plants into commercial crops. Figaro 04:44, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
