Chancellor

According to Lord Mayor of London the Lord Mayor is Chancellor ex officio, rather than as an individual. I'm changing the infobox accordingly. Timrollpickering 22:40, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

University ratings

(I'm posting this to all articles on UK universities as so far discussion hasn't really taken off on Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities.)

There needs to be a broader convention about which university rankings to include in articles. Currently it seems most pages are listing primarily those that show the institution at its best (or worst in a few cases). See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities#University ratings. Fair use rationale for Image:CityUniLogo.gif

Image:CityUniLogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Michael Fish

I see that Michael Fish is down as an alumnus ("Media and Entertainment"), and indeed his Wiki entry refers to him as a graduate of the City University. But since it also refers to him being given an honorary degree by CU, do I take it that his initial studies were not at degree level? Millbanks (talk) 07:33, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

It's quite common for universities to give honorary degrees to their own graduates so he could well have both a substantive and honorary degree from City. Timrollpickering (talk) 10:42, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

NPOV dispute

This article was tagged with NPOV but no one started a discussion about what was specifically wrong. I've edited the article and added more references and more detail on university ranking. Does anyone have any more suggestions in order to obtain NPOV? --Kat384 (talk) 09:09, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

Look at the phrase "In September 2007 many classrooms were installed with cutting edge classroom technology including touch-screen control, video conferencing software and high-quality audio to increase the focus of student generated input." Now, that looks to me like a cut and paste from a press release, which can't really be NPOV. Orphaned references in City University London

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of City University London's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Muhammad Iqbal

In "Arts, science and academia" under "Notable alumni" we have Muhammad Iqbal. His article says "Sir Muhammad Iqbal [...] born (November 9, 1877 – April 21, 1938) was a Muslim poet and philosopher born in Sialkot, British India (now in Pakistan)," and until recently our short link to him said "Muhammad Iqbal - Indian Muslim poet, philosopher, and politician". However an IP and Hashamarif have recently changed it to ""Muhammad Iqbal - Pakistani Muslim poet [...]". I do see the problem but I don't see how we can describe him as Pakistani when he died in 1938 and Pakistan was born in (perhaps) 1947. I don't know the subtleties of that area and region so I'd rather discuss it here than have a revert war. Does any obvious solution present itself? Might something like this work: "Muhammad Iqbal - Muslim poet, philosopher, and politician born in present-day Pakistan". Or something?? Best wishes DBaK (talk) 17:21, 11 July 2011 (UTC)

City of London

Does it actually have any sites in the City of London? The only one this article appears to claim is Cass Business School, which is actually in the London Borough of Islington (the northern City boundary runs along Ropemaker Street and Chiswell Street, just south of its location on Bunhill Row).
