Weird typo in December 2021
[edit]Right now it lists "150000-1934482" as result of his last fight against Derrick Lewis. The results on the table below are: "9–0, 8–0, 7–0, 6–0", so I think logically the entry there should be "10-0" now, right? Not sure why the "150000-1934482" shows up; I assume it may be some erroneous automatic entry or something, as these numbers appear so random otherwise ... (may be interesting to query how these numbers arrived at the page though!). 2A02:8388:1604:F600:3AD5:47FF:FE18:CC7F (talk) 17:59, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
DMY
[edit]I updated all dates in this page to DMY, as Gane is from France, which uses DMY date formatting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bradleysballs (talk • contribs) 16:36, 13 January 2022 (UTC)
- You're only supposed to change it if he has strong ties to a particular English-speaking country. He doesn't.--Killashaw (talk) 18:47, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- What? I changed it to DMY because he is French, not American. Your comment makes no sense. --Bradleysballs (talk) 11:49, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
- You can change his French article to that format, but you're not supposed to change the English one unless he has strong ties to a particular English-speaking country. --Killashaw (talk) 17:08, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
Using ESPN for height/weight
[edit]What is the reasoning for not using ESPN as a source for height or weight when it is accurate and can be cross referenced with the official UFC website and other sites confirming that? ESPN and the UFC site list him at 6'4" while only Sherdog lists him at 6'5". Just because they have a contract with the UFC to show their PPV's on a streaming service does that mean they aren't considered an independent source or somehow invalid? I don't understand the logic to use a less accurate source when multiple more reliable ones are available. Hunterb212 (talk) 00:14, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hunterb212 Good day. We all know UFC and ESPN has a 7 year contract and they are intermediately link/affiliated in many ways (you dont see Hawalni in life pre/post fights media interview for all of us know Mr. White does not like him and ESPN would sometimes announced a fight because they got info from Dana/UFC. ESPN is a TV channel and many of their info, maybe not now, was brought form other sources, example they brought content and info from Sherdog back then. Sherddog is independent and reliable source and has the largest database just like boxrec (boxing database) for boxing, Soccerway (soccer database) for soccer/football, NFL we refer to pro-football-reference and etc. Sherdog have been around since early day of mma and it is independent and reliable source (no afflation with UFC or fighters and has been voted (award) many years the best mma medial by the fighters along with mma junkie. When a source is link to UFC and the subject fights under UFC that makes the sources not independent (both ESPN and Sherdog). We do take a very limited info from independent source such as from fighters themselves/UFC for certain personal info which we can not obtain else where such as fighters' stands and reach (now we can get it from Tapoloy for reach). On last thing, Wikipedia is not about the true - see Wikipedia:But it's true! but about verification of independent, reliable souce. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 00:46, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
