Female circumcision
[edit]I came to this page searching information about circumcision in Africa as the article title indicates but I could find information related only to male circumcision. Is there any reason to omit female circumcision. I know circumcision is sometimes called genital mutilation, it this somehow related to this?
This page is needed
[edit]I feel there is tonnes to writes about circumcision in Africa. The history of it - tribal circumcision etc. Plus we should give updates on the progress in using circumcision to control HIV in Africa. Tremello (talk) 15:08, 3 August 2015 (UTC)
- I am a little more than a year late in replying, but I agree with you (about the page needed). Circumcision in Africa is among the highest amount of the entire world, behind only to Arabia and U.S.A.. The information is difficult to find but it eventually will be found and should be added to this article. Despite what is told, Circumcision may control HIV but it will never eliminate it. It seems like you want this page to influence people to be circumcised but this article must be neutral. I have since expanded this article to include information about attempts to increase circumcision in Africa AND a section about attempts to decrease circumcision in Africa. The reasons why there would be attempts to decrease circumcision is because there are new methods of reducing HIV and those attempts reflect the percentage of circumcision. External Governments (whether it be U.S.A. & Middle East; or China & Japan) also reflect the percentage of circumcision. This information should also be included in this article. - Hi In Correct. No that isnt the reason. I am actually opposed to involuntary circumcision. But am not opposed to adults making informed decisions on their own bodies. I would prefer to change the structure a bit. Have it just countries and then list regions/tribes where circumcision is done and where it is not done. As oppposed to breaking it up into countries which do and do not. Hope that is ok. Tremello (talk) 19:41, 18 November 2016 (UTC)
