The expression "white boys from broken homes" in the charter may have been exclusionary, but I wouldn't call this reference itself "racist" . Maybe the INTENT was racist, but the term itself isn't. Hillsboro 15:24, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

I think the above comment reflects a naive distinction without a difference that is readily apparent to anyone who lived through this era. I remember this when it was pointed out to my mother and I by the Colonel when we went up to CFS for my admission process in 1963. The Colonel added, consistent with the pending Civil Rights Act, that the charter was in the process of being amended. The existence of that phrase reflected the level of racism that was pervasive throughout society at the time. Tom Cod

I believe there are other NPOV issues, esp the later half, that need to be worked on. Have we (CFS alums) all been successful in life? I just don't think this vague cheerleading belongs in a wiki article.

Well, the Colonel used to say he only knew of one student out of the hundreds that had graduated in his life that hadn't been. Then again even Harvard and Yale have graduates serving time in prison. Tom Cod

This whole page is essentially one big advertisement for the school. If it gave some historical background (like, perhaps on the headmasters) it might, MIGHT have a reason for existing, but, as it stands, it doesn't belong on wikipedia. I've tried to mitigate some of these overzealous contributions. Citations for School Ranking Claims?

The article, which has improved greatly, needs citations for the assertions that CFS is ranked 20th academically among boarding schools and has the 6th largest endowment. Obviously with an average SAT score of 1566 it wouldn't come even close to the top 20 in academics.[[1]] As to endowment, The New York Times recently had an article about prep school endowments with a list of the top 18 [2]], which CFS was not on. Yes, CFS is a good school, but this article needs to conform to NPOV and not be a school brochure with exaggerated and unsubstantiated claims. Sixth in PA maybe, after places-including schools CFS plays in sports-like the Hill School and Episcopal Academy (where two headmasters of CFS went) etc. As has been stated here in connection with many articles, this is an encyclopedia, not an advertising venue. Therefore school articles should not be promotional brochures written in the first person plural. Tom Cod (talk) 07:37, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
