If you can site a reliable source or two for that claim, the info will be changed. Picaroon9288 23:49, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

source

[edit]

this article seems to have been copied almost verbatim from here:

(or vice versa) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.213.162.102 (talk) 19:06, 5 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I found the article to be lacking in detail, so I added several paragraphs to summarize the information in Brown's autobiography of his childhood and youth. Therefore, the article is no longer verbatim from elsewhere. In the new section, from "was incapable..." to "...modern authors" the words are mine. I read the book last week but I've already passed it along so I can't verify all details (e.g. cart vs. wagon) nor give more names of doctors, dates that treatment started, etc. I simplified the sentence structure and added detail in the brief summary before my new material. I haven't done anything to the part after. --Monado

If someone could recognize the source, it is. A new section and some words added are not enough, if you copy a book, if they can recognize the style, it's a copy, you should work again on it.

"suffered from severe cerebral palsy" offensive?

[edit]

My wife says:

As one who has severe cerebral palsy, I can say that "suffered from" is a mischaracterization of the experience of having CP. To make us victims diminishes the normalcy with which we live our day-to-day lives. I am not a victim; don't take my power away from me.

I note that several times people have removed "suffered" from the opening sentence of this article. Also, only 2 of the 17 articles in Category:People with cerebral palsy use the phrase "suffer[s,ed] from" (the other one at this writing is David_Ring); most simply state "born with cerebral palsy." w3steve (talk) 05:00, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That's really ridiculous!! did he enjoyed his palsy? He had suffered from it, that's a fact. It's a not a way to diminush, you didn't understood that it is the reason why it's a great man !!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E35:8A8D:FE80:41D3:E1B4:C5C3:32B2 (talk) 09:27, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
^ So much misunderstanding in so few words, a consequence of thinking in exclamation marks. -- Jibal (talk) 05:18, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Images of Christy's artwork

[edit]

It would be lovely to include images of Christy's artwork in this article, if possible, as with any other artists.66.8.251.197 (talk) 05:50, 8 May 2010 (UTC)Jody Fulford[reply]

Unreliable Information About Brown's Wife and Circumstances of Death

[edit]

The paragraph about Brown's relationship with his wife accuses her of abusing him, and being unfaithful and alcoholic. These harsh judgments are unproven. Bruises were found on Brown's body after death, but anyone with serious cerebral palsy, uncontrollably spastic, is likely to have some bruises. Also, Brown's brother Sean's low opinion of the wife is given practically the weight of Scripture. The article should mention that there was intense and litigious bad feeling between Brown's relatives and his wife, because of the disposition of Brown's estate. This would suggest that his relatives' claims cannot be accepted at face value. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Younggoldchip (talkcontribs) 15:34, 23 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest uploading this image as a fair-use image to illustrate the infobox, as the subject is deceased. TDSoC (talk) 14:13, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
