[edit]This appears to be a self-serving biographic entry for a person not meeting Wikipedia notability guidelines. How does someone put purging this record from Wiki up to a vote on that matter? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.188.231.221 (talk) 13:48, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit]The Pest Who Shames Companies Into Fixing Security Flaws by Mike Kessler November 23, 2011 wired.com 3:33 am, excerpt ...
While working for the FTC in the fall of 2009, Soghoian secretly recorded a Sprint Nextel executive admitting that his company gave user data to law enforcement some 8 million times in one year. The recording was featured on The Colbert Report (punch line: “Can you hear me hear you now?”). The following year, a Ninth Circuit Court judge cited the Sprint recording in a decision about how Fourth Amendment protections relate to GPS tracking.
In April, he blogged about Dropbox’s backdoor access to user data. Two days later, Dropbox clarifies its terms of service.

Needs Neutral Viewpoint
[edit]This article is written like promotional marketing fluff. I've made some edits to eliminate unsubstantiated hyperbole.
- It was already known that the FBI had hacking groups, including the specific group in the DEF CON talk.
- The FBI's Seattle Times phishing was included in documents FOIAed by EFF.
- The letter to Google was a collaboration with a number of others, and it may not have caused Google's change.
- There had previously been media coverage of 0-day exploits.
According to Forbes, his departure from the FTC was under investigation and unceremonious. I also added a note about that.
I agree that the subject is (barely) notable. Most of the content in the piece, though, could be eliminated or greatly condensed. If someone has the time for a more thorough edit, and a more thorough screening for exaggerated claims, that would be nice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.9.110.2 (talk) 16:19, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
