Name
[edit]I'm a bit confused about this article. I started it and named it "Christopher Aurier", but other contributors insist it be called "Serge Aurier". If I have understood properly, these two are actually brothers both playing for RC Lens. Christopher born in 1993 and Serge in 1992. Anyway, this was supposed to be about the player who debuted in Ligue 1 and who at least the official site calls "Christopher Aurier" and list as 1993 born. [1]
Have I understood something incorrectly or is somebody else now confused about the two brothers?
- Yes, the French media have been confused by this since the first Aurier made his debut. I think you are right regarding Christopher. I am, after typing this will revert this back to the original article. Serge made his debut in the Coupe de France a few days ago, which I why I got confused. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joao10Siamun (talk • contribs) 22:54, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
Position and redirecting
[edit]So according to [2] [3] and Football Manager, Christopher is a striker and not a right back like his brother.
Furthermore the only source that states that Christopher has made a professional appearance is [4]. The Ligue 1 website contradicts this and says Serge, not Christopher, played both matches.[5] [6]. I'm not convinced that Christopher has made a professional appearance and is notable. I do think it would be appropriate to redirect the Christopher Aurier article to Serge considering the confusion involved. Crunk Cup (talk) 21:27, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
- The Ligue de Football Professionnel and French media has a lot to do with this confusion. Last year, one of them made their debut at the age of 16, but the LFP and the media confused that player for his brother. They later clarified it, but not without declaring Serge the "new Didier Drogba" even though Christopher is supposedly the striker. JSRant Away 23:40, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
- Does Wikipedia have things correct now with Serge as the defender and Christopher as the forward? Do you know if Christopher has made a first team appearance? I can't find him listed on RC Lens or the Ligue 1 website which makes me think he has only made academy appearances.
- If the case is that he hasn't made a first team appearance do you think it's appropriate to redirect this article to Serge Aurier? Crunk Cup (talk) 02:41, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, Christopher is the forward. Christopher's article should be deleted as he fails to meet WP:ATHLETE having not made any first-team appearances with Lens. JSRant Away 03:10, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'll do that now. Crunk Cup (talk) 00:35, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
