==Biography==
Christoph König grew up in Dresden and at the age of nine became a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor In 1986 he passed his Abitur. From 1988 to 1993 he studied conducting at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber. He gained his first experience of it in 1993 as a repeater soloist at the Semperoper, later as Kapellmeister at the Wuppertal and Gelsenkirchen opera houses, which had merged at that time.’ Since 2001 he has been working as first conductor at the Bonn Opera with the Beethoven Hall Orchestra. From 2003 to 2006 he was chief conductor of the Malmö Symphony Orchestra and from 2008 to 2014 of the Orquestra Sinfónica in Porto Casa da Musica. Concert tours have taken him to Brazil, Vienna, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Luxembourg and the Strasbourg Music Festival with the Porto Symphony Orchestra. Since 2010 he is also chief director of Solistes Européens Luxembourg. Since 2023 he has been the principal and artistic director of the RTVE Symphony Orchestra.1
As a guest conductor, Christoph König has conducted, among others, the Saxon State Orchestra Dresden, the Orchester de Paris, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of London, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra Oslo , the BBC Philharmonic, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, which he also accompanied on a tour of China in 2008. On the American continent he works with the orchestras of Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Houston and Baltimore, among others.
As an opera director he has worked at the Zurich Opera, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Stuttgart State Opera and the German Opera in Berlin.
