Poinsettia - where?

[edit]

Under the heading Plants, the page currently reads:

Since the 19th century, the poinsettia, a native plant from Mexico, has been associated with Christmas.

In which regions (besides the U.S.A.) is the poinsettia prominently featured among Christmas decorations? In particular, is it a symbol or decoration in Eastern Christianity? -- Deborahjay (talk) 08:31, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In the UK, it has gradually come into greater use as a "Christmas plant" over the last 20 years or so. Ghmyrtle (talk) 09:15, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think this image ha a place on the article, every year Singapore devises new and elaborate christmas decorations for the city, Orchard road most prominently. Benjamint 09:24, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Any objections? Sparkie82 (tc) 23:07, 23 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I object: rename this one as "Christmas tree bauble" since there's scope for a lot of discussion of various designs etc. Leave Christmas decoration as a general article which also covers Christmas chains, effigies of Rudolph and so on. MarkMLl (talk) 22:44, 25 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I object, too. For what reason? These articles meet none of the criteria for a merger: AFAICS all they do is share a similarity of title. Both articles are substantial and competently written, and there is little overlap: The ornaments article is specifically about baubles, while this one is about decorations in general, and contains just one sentence about ornaments with a link to that article. Perfectly reasonable arrangement.
This is little better than a hit-and-run tagging, and should probably be closed as such. Moonraker12 (talk) 14:00, 13 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tinsel

Might want to mention that one. It's pretty popular a decoration for Christmas. There are some pictures of it in the gallery. EIN (talk) 17:57, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
