Objection to Deletion
[edit]This statement is written to object to the request for deletion of the Christine Essel Wikipedia article.
The guidelines for notability of a living person are as follow:
"If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article."
Refer to Notability Guidelines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability
Christine Essel has received significant coverage in reliable sources. She is most notable for receiving sufficient votes to place her in the December 2009 runoff election for the Los Angeles city council. Essel has also received coverage in the past for her involvement in governmental affairs as a city-appointed representative, for work-related affairs as a Paramount Pictures executive, and for her membership in film-industry related boards. Multiple coverage in reliable sources include, but not limited to: L.A. Times, L.A. Weekly, Daily News, and KPCC radio.
Wikipidia requires a neutral perspective when considering the inclusion of stand-alone articles. It is the hope of this author that the request for deletion is separate from any politically-inclined motives.
I present my objection and will remove the "Request for Deletion" tag in 24 hours from submitting this request. This will be at 10:48 AM PST on October 27, 2009.
Thank you.
