According to FIFA rules delay of game is a cautionable offense which will result in the issuing of a yellow card to the offending player, not a direct free kick as was awarded by Pederson.

- What's the paragraph that states this? Altonbr (talk) 12:46, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Not done:You are correct, but that was not the case here. The goalkeeper is only allowed to hold the ball with the hands for 6 (or 8) seconds, and when violated an indirect freekick should be issued. Mentoz86 (talk) 13:47, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Missed Out of Bounds
[edit]What about how she missed the clear out of bounds call when the US put it over the Canadian back line and no whistle was blown? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Altonbr (talk • contribs) 12:46, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

This description describes what happened, but has a overly biased tone. I'd like to make a more even-handed description of the events. James v bond (talk) 18:33, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Change "Although the decision was correct according to a literal reading of the Law, it is extremely rare for the offence to be punished unless the goalkeeper is blatantly wasting time." to "The decision was correct according to a literal reading of the Law"
Is it not an opinion piece as it stands now?? FIFA backs her up. She stands by her call. The reason for that rule is to prevent the *winning* team from running down the clock. It is very unsporting to run down the clock...
I currently read it as questioning her judgement as a referee. It's un-encyclopedic :) signed from BC, Canada 207.81.115.96 (talk) 02:39, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Not done: It doesn't directly question her judgement, but states that it is a rare call unless it is a blatant offence. We don't have a ref to the exact wording. In fact, the wikipedia page linked to supports the current version. It says "When a goalkeeper, inside his own penalty area: takes more than six seconds while controlling the ball with his hands before releasing it from his possession, in this case it is very rare and the ref would give the goalie a yellow." Meters (talk) 03:15, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry, we do have a ref buried in the page we link to. Hmm... it looks like the Law 12 page needs to be changed. There is no mention of yellow cards for this infraction in the 2008/2009 rulebook for example. I doubt it has changed. Meters (talk) 03:29, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
- REverted that change to the Law 12 page. Reset this request to unanswered so someone else can decide. Meters (talk) 03:36, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

This article seems set up to air a grievance about a soccer call made in just one game. Very unencyclopedic. It should be deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Smallj53 (talk • contribs) 16:03, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
Is there a page about the Maradona Hand-of-God game? Sorry, but this single incident is what Pederson will be known for. For better or worse. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.236.94.82 (talk) 16:00, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Christina might as well of had an american jersey on because she had the game decided before it started. Ruggerlyfe (talk) 17:30, 8 August 2012 (UTC) Why does the article not mention that she made the call after Abby Wombach did count down several times to her ear and she finally made the call after.
here's the source.wambach admitting she did countdown to ref's ears many times. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hurric (talk • contribs) 19:05, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

- Why would you want to post the facebook of the referee. There's relevant and factual, and then biased crap that can only harm. Yes, this is coming from a Canadian. DudsBro (talk) 20:35, 8 August 2012 (UTC)
