Possibly Gay

Silly semantic stuff here, but the previous "revealed that Aguilera was possibly gay" works a lot better, and I'm not sure why it was changed to "lesbian." as an adjective, gay is almost universally used in this context. lesbian is almost never used except as a noun. the word lesbian tends to be used a noun meaning a female of gay sexual orientation. no one says, "Do you think she is lesbian?" it's, "Do you think she is gay?" if the answer to that question is yes, it would be, "Yes, she is gay. She is a lesbian." GreenKid

I think "revealed that Aguilera is asked a lot of fool questions in interviews" or "revealed that Aguilera is a savvy marketeer" would be much more accurate.
In the interview, she said that she enjoys kissing women, and that looking at women arouses her more sexually than looking at men. "I love to see a girl with a good booty", she said.
Uh-huh. It's the kind of thing Abi Titmuss is coaxed into "purring" in every interview she does. According to this criterion, every woman ever interviewed by Loaded or FHM is screamingly "possibly gay".

It seems that people added GLBT Artists and GLBT people categories to the article, although Christina's engagement to Jordan Bratman confirms the opposite. I'm removing these references. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 06:17, May 26, 2005 (UTC)

Since when does a heterosexual relationship confirm the absence of bisexual (note: GLBT includes a B for Bisexual) tendencies? It only confirms that she is not a lesbian. -- Ashmodai 07:22, 27 July 2005 (UTC)
Well, what confirms as bisexual? It already says in the article, about Xtina's bi-sexuality statements coming from a documented, dubious source. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 02:13, August 19, 2005 (UTC)
It seems slightly strange that there is so much controversey on this issue. If you ask any celebrity girl such as Christina you will probably get an answer relitively close to the one that she gave.--BeccaRose 03:02, 7 November 2005 (UTC)

Weight Issues

In early 2003, Aguilera aroused much comment when she gained a noticeable amount of weight. She was quoted as saying, "I couldn't care less about stupid diets. Eating is sensual and fun. I'm not going to let it be spoiled by calorie-counting." Whether she will be able to reconcile this attitude to her sexually-charged image remains to be seen.

Do you think this paragraph should be in this article? I don't see how someone's weight is signifigant enough to be mentioned in Wikipedia. --Lbmixpro 00:14, Mar 28, 2005 (UTC)

It's all a question of whether people care, or cared. Her weight is not necessarily worth mentioning, as long as nobody cares about it. But Christina is a sex symbol, so people definitely do care about every last pound gained or lost. I distinctly remember the talk about her weight at that time. So it's worth mentioning. Everyking 12:14, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hey, at least she isn't throwing up every meal and weighing 65 pounds. She obviously doesn't look overweight right now and I think that that is what matters. BeccaRose 02:57, 7 November 2005 (UTC)
actually, right before she adopted cow-status, she used to be so skinny that people thought she was indeed anorexic or maybe bulimic. In the business she is in, it is almost an unwritten law to not be overweighted if your body build doesnt allow it. Back when aguilera once stated that she was exposing her "womanhood" by wearing skimpy outfits, when she released stripped, no one believed that it was a claim of feminism, she was using her body for commercial purposes, no one was THAT stupid to believe the excuse for an obvious publicity stunt, everyone knew that if all else fails, then go slutty, it works all the time (there is a history of that in music artists). Is the fact that she was once semi-overweighted important??, only if you believe in Aguilera is just a face... considering shes a pop singer, then she is more of a face than a singer(thats how the pop business is). The preceding unsigned comment was added by 200.28.199.89 (talk • contribs) 08:43, December 7, 2005.
"Unflattering photographs of her flabby midsection spilling out of her conventionally skimpy costumes were circulated" c'mon people, that's just absurd. If you want proof of why this shouldn't be in Wikipedia, just look there. Say something about concerns existing over a weight increase, why it's significant, and move on. There's no need to go into any detail at all, let alone this sort of rant. Gspawn 19:47, 1 February 2006 (UTC)

Retrieved links?

Just wondering what it means when the links have the word Retrieved and a date next to them. Anyone care to explain?

It's the date the cited information was seen on the website being used as a reference. Tuf-Kat 21:46, Apr 13, 2005 (UTC)

Section POV template for Stripped

I added a SectNPOV template to the Stripped section of the article. The majority of the section seems to be weighted on the effects of the Dirrty video and says very little about the album's musical style, or other singles. I suggest either add detailed information about the the Fighter (a response to Kurtz), Beautiful (Video's appeal to urban sub-culture and it's message of not letting others' words hurt you), and Can't Hold Us Down (MTV's censorship and near-ban on the video for the use of a water hose). Or cut back on the "Dirrty details". --LBMixPro(Holla back!) 11:02, Apr 16, 2005 (UTC)

You seem to know a lot about it, can't you add that stuff? Everyking 12:30, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
It would take some time, that's why I asked anybody who has knowledge about Christina to write it, to save me some time. --LBMixPro(Holla back!) 08:02, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)

Images

I figured since we have a perfectly good image of her DVD cover, we should include it somewhere, so I added it to the bottom, beside where it mentions the DVDs. I think it fits pretty well there. Everyking 05:46, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)

It's nice over there, but the reason why I put it on the top is to replace the other image, which may have been copyvio. I'd like to give the image that's currently on top about a week to get its copyright tag (someone already asked him to tag his images, since he uploaded quite a few others already). If nothing happens, then I'll probably assume copyvio on this one as well. --LBMixPro(Holla back!) 08:02, Apr 18, 2005 (UTC)

Questions/ Vocal Range

I find it odd that Christina should be listed/credited as a songwriter. She does not write songs, she simply adds to them. Alright, maybe this is hair-splitting but I think the "songwriter" bit needs to be removed.

And it is impossible for Christina to have hit a G6. It is higghly disputed that is is even possible for a human to hit those kinds of notes. And it is hotly disputed that it is even humanly impossible to have anything more than a 4 octave range. A piano doesn't even go higher than C7!

This is not an insult to Miss Aguileras but, there are misconceptions and inaccuracies in all female "diva' singers' voices and vocal abilities that need to be addressed. MsEames

YOU NEED TO LISTENT TO MARIAH CAREY'S "eMOTIONS AND THEN SAY A PERSON CANT GO HIGHER THAN C7. YOU CAND ONLY GO UP TO C7 IN FULLVOICE. BUT YOU CAN GO HIGHER IN FALSETTO. AND I HAVE A PIANO IN MY FOYER THAT GOES UP TO C8. MY FATHER IS A VOCAL PHYSICIAN! LISTEN TO ALMOST ANY OF MARIAH CAREY'S SONGS, OR MINNIE RIPERTON, OR CHRISTINA IN THE SONGS "SOAR," "CARWASH," OR "HAVE A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS." THANKS... :)

Please remember that by evaluating and measuring a singer's vocal range falsetto is frquently NOT included. Everybody can reach high or sometimes very high notes by using falsetto or even by screaming. Obviously it doesn't produced good musical effects in all cases, but if the subject is "reaching higher notes" you need to first learn what is a vocal range and how it can/should be measured. (Valeska Dubois, church singer).

Everyone has opinions and zero facts. The only fact is that it is highly disputed that a human (Mariah Carey included!) can have a 4 or 5 octave range. Mseames 23:25, July 13, 2005 (UTC)

Hi, you should check on adam lopez, you guys, a 6 octave range, guinness world record, former backsinger of Mariah Carey,
Whoever, somebody has been putting vocal profiles with good-voiced-singers, but he does not cite sources, whoever a dick has been removing these profiles, whitout saving them on the discussion page, what is very low! --—Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.240.157.225 (talkcontribs) 01:54, August 29, 2005
The vocal profiles are a controvercial issue all over Wikipedia. This article is being prepared to be a Featured Article . Which means it not only needs to be as detailed as possible, but needs to follow all of WP's policies and guidelines as close as they it be. As I stated earlier, the vocal profiles are possibly in violation of both the Citation and Original Research rules, because the vocal profiles may be brought up by someone actually listening/viewing the notes to come up with a conclusion. Adam Lopez's vocal range is different, because it has been documented by Guinness, a repuatble source. If there is a magazine, or reputable website which is valid by these guidelines (not GeoCities), then you can add it to the article. I know this may be upsetting to some of you, but it needs to be done, or this article will never reach Featured Article status. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 10:04, August 29, 2005 (UTC)
So what you're saying is to basically cite sources for the vocal profile. I agree. There has to be another written source out there which measures Christina's vocal abilities. But we need an external source. If we write based on what we hear, that would be Original Research, something which isn't supposed to be on WP. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 01:13, July 14, 2005 (UTC)
The very first sentence on the "songwriter" page states the following:
"A songwriter is someone who writes, in part or in full, the lyrics to songs, the musical composition to songs, or both."
I don't see a problem with it. --Aves 23:26, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Agree. Although Christina didn't completely write her songs, she has made major contributions to them, if she hasn't completely wrote the lyrics to the songs on Stripped. About the factual accuracy dispute with the vocal abilities, I don't think we should remove them. But try to correct what's written. Also Mariah Carey is reported to have a very large vocal range. I recommend you address your statements about female vocal ablities at its talk page as well. I'm now adding a {{sectfact}} template to the vocal range section. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 08:27, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC) (Updated 10:04, August 29, 2005 (UTC))
We do not know for a fact if Christina did indeed made "major" contributions to the songs. How did she make these "major" controbutions to the songs? A few words? A verse? The lyrics in their entirety? Christina is not a songwriter and does not deserve the songwriter title until she actually writes a song. 207.69.137.38

There should be a distinction between someone who writes a few lines or a few words for a song, rather than wholly contributing to the song. If someone writes the lyrics and the music to a song, and someone rewords or adds a few lines, that doesn't make a songwriter. If Emeril LaGasse cooks a new meal and I add the salt, that by no means means I am now a chef. I am a songwriter and the title of songwriter is thrown around much too freely. I will add this comment to the songwriter page, too. The wording of the page is too benign and generic. MsEames

And even then, would you call Britney a singer-songwriter? I guess you wouldn't. But she did write at least one song herself. I think for rightfully labelling someone a "songwriter" that person has to contribute to songs on a REGULAR basis. I think that's the keyword. Because I wouldn't call Britney a songwriter, just because she wrote one song (that I know of). [User: Dorisu | 14:38, 14 Dec 2005 (UTC+1)]
A C7, the C one octave above Soprano C is the top note in her version of The Christmas Song where she imitates a Mariah technique, to sing notes matching the keyboard. See Octave Scale and seventh octave for more information. Antares33712 13:42, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Christina Aguilera DOES NOT hit C8 whoever put this on the site is a liar. IF she did have a 5 octave range she would rivial maraih carey as a vocalist when that isn't the case. She doesn't hit C8 and thats wrong. Also the note Christina Aguilera hits in "Walk Away" is E3 not C3 according to her sheet music Walk Away Selection Details: pages: 9 form: Song scoring: Piano/Vocal/Guitar instruments: Guitar Piano Voice, range: E3-G5 http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=mn0043933&bookmark=0&who=basic&Only=H

Keep Singing My Song is an E5 not a G5

Keep on Singin' My Song Selection Details: pages: 9 form: Song scoring: Piano/Vocal/Guitar instruments: Guitar Piano Voice, range: E3-E5 http://www.musicnotes.com/sheetmusic/mtd.asp?ppn=mn0043935&bookmark=2

The notes she can hit is the source by itself. It's hard to understand why it should be deleted. In this case,Christina's highest/lowest note(C#7/Eb3) was shown in sample clips I added. And if you know highest/lowest then you know vocal range. It's common senseI think we should remove this section only when there is no sample clip to prove what the note really is.
From what I seen in the edit summary of the last vocal range related revert, it seems that it was reverted in violation of the No original research rule. Since listening to the notes is a form of original research (finding out facts by one's self, instead of external sources), Wikipedia doesn't allow it. But I seen a link to the musical score of the song, but I'm not completely sure if that's a creditable source. Can someone with serious knowledge of WP clear this up? --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 08:22, July 20, 2005 (UTC)
----
She does not write songs, she simply adds to them.
I think she co-wrote "Miss Independent" and "Beautiful", both of which are the kind of songs that "proper" songwriters write. I always assumed that meant vocals as well as lyrics, but perhaps I'm being fanciful. Correct the hell out of me if I'm wrong.
chocolateboy 22:55, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

- About Christina's vocal range, I believe it is C3-C7 (4 octaves). In any case, her highest note is C7 in The Christmas Song. Her highest live is a G6. Here is a compilation clip of some of her high notes. Some live and some in the studio. http://s8.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3KBU9UI3Q5OTX09LUJQQ71D123

Protection request

The blanking seems to have stopped now, but rest assured. Reverting page or section blanking on talk pages when there's no personal attacks involved is vandalism and can be reverted without breaking the 3RR. - Mgm|(talk) 12:06, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

Comments from MsEames and Aves

To whoever removed my and Aves' comments: If you disagee with our comments or cannot add anything to the comments, fine, but do not erase them. Erasing the comments will not make the issues go away. I have added the comments back and will keep adding them back if they are erased again. Mseames 20:53, Jun 23, 2005 (UTC)

This talk page has been subject to consistant erase vandalism for the past few weeks. My statements have been removed as well. I have reported the person's IP address in Vandalism in progress and has requested this talk page be frozen for a while. I'll talk to the sysop in charge of locking pages to see if anything can be done about this one. --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 01:17, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)

Is this really worth putting in the article, should it be merged with the Guantanamo Bay one? --LBMixPro(Speak on it!) 08:54, Jun 24, 2005 (UTC)

Christina aguilera's vocal range

today i want to clarify what's christina's vocal range. the vocal range must be counted from tha lowest to the highest note a person can do. actually christina aguilera's lowest note is C3 while her highest note is a C#7 (you can hear her highest note at the end of The christmas song) but she even did a C7 at the beginning of All i wanna do, a duet with keizo nakanishi. so she is considered a 4 octaves vocal range cause her voice goes from C3 to C#7 (4 octaves and a semitone). On youtube you can find a lot of videos that show you what i'm saying. please take a look.
