Other sects

My understanding is that one or more Doukhobor sects (Freedomites?) practice, or used to practice, nudism regularly, both as protests and also in connection with some interpretation of the Bible and doctrines associated with the Garden of Eden. --Filll (talk) 22:45, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Ah, you have been doing some research for your questions. You are right, and the articles on this need expansion and some of them considerable modernization.

LDS naturists

Any references for their actual existence? DGG (talk) 20:41, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

They do appear to be some: see LDS Skinny-Dippers Connection and LDS Skinny Dippers Forum. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 19:52, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

History section needs citations

Much of the History section is unsourced; many uncited opinions need substantiation or removal; -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 19:52, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Clothing begets violence section

The section on Clothing begets violence was removed without obtaining consensus and was restored. After looking at the section, I question whether the section has merit. The most reliable source is an article cited in Time magazine that does not support the thesis of the article section, merely substantiating Hitler's outlawing of nudism. This fails the test of a reliable source because "The source cited must clearly support the information as it is presented in the article. See Burden of evidence.

The second citation is to a person's individual essay, which I believe fails as a reliable source because it is a self-published source, exactly like a blog. The article tries to link Puritanical attitudes of dictators like Stalin, Hitler, Pol-Pot, Mao and others to the mass executions of millions.

I've asked for input from the Reliable sources Noticeboard as to whether the GlobalIdeasBank.org web site qualifies as a reliable source, since self-published sources do not generally fit the criteria. If the GlobalIdeaBank site fails as a reliable source, then this section ought to be removed, because it is then someone's unsubstantiated POV. -- btphelps (talk) (contribs) 19:35, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

In the meantime, I've added the word "Some" to "Christian naturists." RGNU (talk) 13:59, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
