2007 V8 position

As reference I quote:

• V8Supercar Operations Manual Division D Sporting Rules

Specifically refer clause: D 15.4.2.4 Ties for points position at a round will be resolved by allocating Round finishing positions in the order of the results in the last race of the Round.

and clause: D 15.4.2.5 which states: In the event of two (2) or more Drivers scoring equal points at the end of the series, the final series order will be determinedby reference to each driversoverall placing at each round conducted. The driver with the greater number of first places will assume the higher place in the final series order. If this fails to break the tie then the Driver with the greater number of second places will assume the higher place in the series order and so on until the tie is broken.

Taking into account the drivers on Zero points finished in the following positions at Sandown and Bathurst - in order as V8Supercar have published. I have erred on the side of generosity and given non-finishers round position according to clause 15.4.2.4

• David Reynolds 25th, 30th
• Chris Pither 19th, 16th
• Adam Macrow 18th, 28th
• Warren Luff 24th, 25th
• John McIntyre 20th, 20th
• Mark Noske 26th, 22nd
• Jay Verdnik 26th, 22nd
• Christain Murchison 29th
• Damien White 29th
• Kayne Scott 17th, 28th

Kayne Scott should have finished above White & Murchison, and indeed White and Murchison should not be ranked seperately.

Therefore, by its own regulations the table published at V8Supercar is not accurate. So do you have an accurate source that claims Murchison finished 62nd in the series? If not then it should be removed, pending an accurate result being determined. --Falcadore (talk) 03:48, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

Natsoft are not the official timers, they provide the software to the circuits, and the circuits outsource the timing, in the instance you've referred to, the Melbourne University Car Club. That's not the point though is it? 62nd is wrong. Incorrect information should be removed yes?

The results charts are supposed to be a list of results achieved, not a list of categories he has raced in. You want to record that he has raced in V8s, fine, put it in the article above the chart. If you want to be a completist about everything he has raced, then describe that with words in the article describing Murchison's race history. Expand the biography rather than add bad statistics. There's another driver bio somewhere that says Suzuki Cup, I think Phil Schifleet, but lists no result. If someone adds the information on the basis of oh yeah I remember he did that Suzuki series way back then, that's not verifiable information is it? If you can't find correctly, the series result, don't add it to the list of results. Well we'll have to put our thinking caps on, so we dont have massive gaps in career stats. You'll have journey men like say Rodney Forbes with patches here & there where he may score a point one season and nothing for 2 or 3 even though he races in the series. What do the F1 results say? As Rodney Forbes doesn't have an article, it is hardly a problem. Brings up the larger question though are journeymen really deserving of wikipedia articles? There are bigger problems, how about the massive gaps in the history of the series?

Why exactly is 'patches' a problem? The text of the bio would explain why there are gaps is if it is well written. In a well written article the stats should only be a companion to the text, not a poor man's version of replacing the text. Most Formula One drivers do not have career history results, only Formula One results, and then box them up race by race. Are you proposing we do that for all V8 drivers, because that is a phenomenal amount of work when Australian motorsport wikiproject do not even work as a team, unlike the F1 wikiproject. Formula One also structure their points differently to V8Supercar, F1 ranks their standings on race position, not round position like V8Supercar does, but if you need the perfect example, and a comparison to Formula 1 while we are at it, then look at the 2007 Formula One season and Markus Winkelhock, only one race and failed to finish it - no championship position. --Falcadore (talk) 22:16, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
