- Thank you, but unfortunately minor alterations to copyrighted content create what is termed a "derivative work". To avoid copyright infringement, content must be rewritten from scratch. I've restored the history section that existed in the article prior to the influx of this content. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:02, 20 January 2011 (UTC)

First church building in Harrogate?
[edit]This doesn't seem to be correct. St Mary's Church, Harrogate (see Wiki article with this name) seems to predate it. The topic is complicated depending on how you interpret Harrogate and church but this reference mentions several other earlier examples:
[1] The current article later on qualifies it as the first PERMANENT church building, which is perhaps literally true (so far!) as the others no longer exist. But it would be more informative to say something like "The earliest church to still exist". Davidnugget (talk) 22:29, 24 July 2017 (UTC
On thinking about this, it was perhaps the word "building" that triggered me, as the St John's chapel on the same site was the first recorded "church" in "Harrogate" and the article is counting this as part of the continuous history of this church. Davidnugget (talk) 20:13, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
