Recent cleanup

[edit]

I did some recent cleanup, including trimming down and renaming the "Criticism" section. In particular, I removed the material claiming that "Stedman is controversial within the atheist community". Negative material about a WP:BLP needs to be well sourced, and all material needs to be directly supported by the sources. Not only did neither source actually indicate that Stedman is "controversial" in the community, they were self-published blogs by two evidently random critics, which is unacceptable per WP:SPS. The article will need more work, but this is a start.--Cúchullain t/c 16:30, 11 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think PZ Myers can be retained, as a famous author (of the world's most popular science blog, Pharyngula), but his statement is easily included without having to note Stedman as "controversial within the atheist community." See my recommended edit on that sentence. Also, I've corrected a few grammos and added a revision reflecting that, among the cited parallel theist-atheist or civil dialogues, Stedman directly pioneered these in IYC, but not at Leach's Civility Tour or Stewart's Rally for Sanity. Cuchullain's edit looks good to me otherwise. Fhburton (talk) 13:14, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, and thanks. Yeah, that section needs more work; I hope to do a bit more on it this week.Cúchullain t/c 15:47, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Looking back at it, I removed the Myers cite per WP:BLPSPS: "Never use self-published sources – including but not limited to books, zines, websites, blogs, and tweets – as sources of material about a living person, unless written or published by the subject..."--Cúchullain t/c 20:07, 10 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What about the others?

[edit]

There is another Chris stedman, a writer to be found on www.BlotterPress.com. He should also have a page, I think? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.122.27.213 (talk) 11:06, 14 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
