Chris Smalling hasn't signed for Man utd despite the premature comments from Man u fans

He has agreed a pre contract deal, although that didn't stop mikel, I'd say with it being posted on the club website it's a done deal.

Actually, what's happened is he's signed for Manchester United and he's now on loan at Fulham until the end of the season. Confusing, I know.

No, that's not what's happened. The situation is that Smalling has signed a pre-contract and won't officially be a Manchester United player until 1 July 2010. He is not on loan from United to Fulham. – PeeJay 01:27, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"United beat Arsenal in the race to sign the highly rated centre back and as part of the deal the Premier League champions have agreed to loan Smalling back to Fulham until the end of the season." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.107.19.206 (talk) 16:43, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's easy to understand why you would be confused when media sources get the facts wrong, but Goal.com isn't a reliable source anyway. Smalling isn't on loan, he signed a pre-contract, which means he doesn't become a Manchester United player until July. – PeeJay 18:22, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sambunn (talk) 04:10, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Do the powers that be think it would be suitable to add Middlesbrough in Smalling's list of clubs in the infobox and career statistics? Although he was there for barely a month in the close season, he did sign a contract with them which was then cancelled.[reply]

And also what about adding his England Schoolboy appearances to the international section of the infobox?

Smalling's birthday

[edit]

This article provides two different birthdays for Chris. Which is it, the 22nd or the 23rd? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.2.126.176 (talk) 16:27, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Maidstone stats season-by-season

[edit]

Hi all, With a bit of work I think I can break Chris Smalling's stats down season by season. This link gives Maidstone's player stats for league games only for 2006/07, and Smalling is not listed. I have then been through the match reports for all the cup matches on this fixture list, and Smalling makes one appearance (11/04/07 vs Tonbridge Angels).

For 07/08, this link gives Maidstone's player stats for all matches except the Kent Senior Cup, but for some reason stops after 05/01/08. The specific page for Chris Smalling is here, but again only includes as far as 05/01/08.

This match report shows that Smalling didn't play in the Kent Senior Cup game.

Fortunately by 05/01/08, the fixture list shows that Maidstone are out of all cup competitions. We already know from this link that Smalling made 11 league appearances and 1 league goal, so that completes the stats!

That would make Smalling's Maidstone stats:

Club Season League FA Cup Other Total
Division Apps Goals Apps Goals Apps Goals Apps Goals
Maidstone United 2006-07 Isthmian D1 South 0 0 0 0 1 0 1 0
2007-08 Isthmian Premier 11 1 0 0 3 0 14 1
Total 11 1 0 0 4 0 15 1

Everyone happy with that? Nonleagueapps (talk) 21:33, 23 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again, I've finally got round to clicking on all the match reports for the Maidstone United 2006–07 and 2007–08 seasons, and while we were right about everything else, we were misled by the Maidstone United article - Smalling actually made 12 league appearances in 07/08, not 11.
These were the 5 listed on the Mitoo page (Harlow Town (home), Heybridge Swifts (away), Hastings United (home), Horsham (away), & East Thurrock United (home)), plus 7 more:
Billericay (home)
Tonbridge Angels (away)
Margate (home)
Wealdstone (away)
Harlow Town (away)
Chelmsford City (home)
East Thurrock United (away)
P.S. the match report for the final match of each season was missing, but I have tracked these down here and here - Smalling didn't play in either
