Equating religion with racism
[edit]A certain set of IPs, are adding He now equates religion with racism to the article, and claim that this ref supports it. The ref only says religion will eventually become as offensive and unacceptable as racism.. There is a massive difference between the two. Requesting more eyes. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 05:34, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
- Pinging @Materialscientist: and @Yunshui:. I think rewriting the stmt to he has stated that religion will one day be considered racist? Is that ok? --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 05:37, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
- Not terribly sure why you pinged me, but since you did...
- He now equates religion with racism He's not saying that he believes religion and racism are currently equivalent
- He has stated that religion will one day be considered racist He's not saying that religion will be consiered to be racist itself, but that one day religion will be as unacceptable to the majority population as racism currently is
- If pressed, I'd go with something like He has stated that he believes religion will eventually be as widely condemned as racism or words to that effect. Or just offer a direct quote: O'Dowd has stated that, "There's going to be a turning point where it [religion] is going to be like racism.". That's my 2¢, for what it's worth. - Thanks a lot @Yunshui:. Your insight is helpful. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 07:53, 19 May 2015 (UTC)

Categories
[edit]Bevson34, your argument that O'Dowd's atheism is mentioned in the article isn't relevant. Please read WP:CAT/R and also WP:BLPCAT. I quote from the latter: Categories regarding religious beliefs (or lack of such) or sexual orientation should not be used unless the subject has publicly self-identified with the belief (or lack of such) or orientation in question, and the subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to their public life or notability, according to reliable published sources. (my emphasis added).
O'Dowd publicly identifies as an atheist - great. That's one of two criteria satisfied. Does his notability derive in any way from his atheism? Nope. So therefore, in accordance with our policy, the category can't be included. This is black and white. BastunĖġáḍβáś₮ŭŃ! 12:15, 20 September 2019 (UTC)

[edit]I added the last line about the 2022 Slumberland movie, but I don't know how to add highlights to other words, names, etc, so could someone also add that in 2022 (same month of Nov 2022) that Chris was also a voice actor for Netflix's animated film "My Father's Dragon"? Thank you, I greatly appreciate it! Blessings ! SandcastleLyndy (talk) 03:24, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
