Edit war regarding home county
[edit]User 92.239.246.171 is attempting to engage in an editwar over the home county of Merseyside or Lancashire. Sources say Merseyside, the hometown (St. Helens) is in Merseyside, but user 92.239.246.171 continues to amend to Lancashire and revert my attempts to correct this to Merseyside. The user should read Edit Warring. A third revert by the user will result in being reported for edit warring, and be warned that I watch this page and will continue to revert your Vandalism. Tbmurray 22:50, 31 January 2011 (UTC)
It isn't vandalism. You're displaying false information. How can you be born in a county which doesn't exist until 12 years after you were born? 92.239.246.171 (talk) 03:03, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Well, why didn't you say that in any of your edit reverts, or on this talk page before when I first reverted, with good intention, your edit? Not everyone knows the history of the county of Merseyside, and your constant reverting resulted in an edit war which could've been prevented at the outset by simply labelling your edits (in the box "Edit summary"). Tbmurray 20:47, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- I have explained my edits on this issue on this article throughout the years under various IPs and guises. However, they were all senselessly reverted. I acknowledge that you wouldn't have, if I had displayed a little more patience and articulation on this occasion, so thank you and apologies. 92.239.246.171 (talk) 01:23, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
- No hard feelings, thanks. Tbmurray 11:14, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
- If the same person plans on amending the legitimate and referenced note on Chris Foy@s support of the rent arrears scheme can they explain why they believe it should be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.148.22.70 (talk) 01:39, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
Vandalism Attack
[edit]This page is getting literally dozens of vandalism edits, probably by a sophisticated sock puppeting system. These include edits saying that Foy is dead. If this is true, and they are being done in good faith, you MUST post a link to a news report, or such edits will be reverted as vandalism/unsourced BLP content. Marechal Ney (talk) 17:18, 23 October 2011 (UTC)
Temporary semi-protection
[edit]Mr. Foy must have made an "interesting" call this weekend. That's my guess, at least, judging by the number of edits today which violate WP:BLP. I've temporarily put the page under semi-protection. --Kbh3rdtalk 19:02, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

The last line of the first paragraph "He is a well known Stoke City fan and was influential in their 2 - 1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on 11/12/11 earning him the Man of the Match award." is false. As detailed lower in the text he is an Everton fan. The page should read as is in en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Chris_Foy_(referee)&oldid=457646984
He isn't a Stoke fan - he just accepted a bribe to throw the game - FACT! Hope he gets investigated and prosecuted for it too! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.9.107.56 (talk) 23:06, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
