Regulator Guy

[edit]

I've added info about this character from memory, having watched Late Night practically since the beginning, and believe it to be accurate. Nonetheless, please correct any wrong information I may have posted. Rex Dart 07:42, 20 December 2006 (UTC)Rex Dart[reply]

Actually, I'm pretty sure that the Regulator Guy was more a parody of the Terminator than of Mad Max, although there may well have been a Mad Max influence. For one thing, Chris definitely used a Schwarzenegger-like accent when playing the part.

I'm looking for the videos online, but so far I'm having no luck. PMaranci 16:17, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Best known roles

[edit]

I would argue he's best known to audiences for his roles in the major comedies There's Something About Mary and Groundhog's Day, rather than recurring guest appearances on Everybody Loves Raymond (???????). I just question who possibly could have written that passage, and how in touch they are with why Elliott is famous in the eyes of most people. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.179.239.18 (talk) 21:16, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your post sounds like your personal opinion of the man based on your viewing preference(s), rather than an objective POV. Please note that the lead para states "He is best known for his comedic sketches on Late Night with David Letterman, starring in the cult comedy series Get a Life on Fox TV and Eagleheart on Adult Swim. . ." It does not state Elliott is best-known for "recurring guest appearances on Everybody Loves Raymond" as you claim. The lesson there for you is---Don't complain about a thing you made up that is not true in the real world. If you want to know who wrote what in the article---go through the edit history and find out. But if you "just question who possibly could have written that passage, and how in touch they are with why Elliott is famous in the eyes of most people", the answer is---that person was *you*. You and nobody else made the claim about guest appearances on Raymond. Also, when posing a question, one question mark ? is sufficient. You can stick those other question marks up your bottom, and please sign your name with four tildes when commenting on talk pages. Thank you so much. I love your self-confused twaddle, makes my day. Appearance at Alamo

[edit]

He was at the Alamo drafthouse this month talking about his latest movie. Worth mentioning?

If you think it's worth mentioning, you put it in. After all it's your observation and nobody else's. Make sure you quote a reliable secondary source and mark it with an inline citation. By the way, what the hell is the Alamo drafthouse? Arbo (talk) 15:02, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Miami Vice actor?

[edit]

Chris is categorized under Miami Vice actors, but the article doesn't mention Miami Vice at all. What gives?

Not any more he isn't. That category does not show up at the end of the article. However, in the list of TV credits, we have "Miami Vice (season 3, episode 13, Down For The Count Pt.2)". Mmkay?Arbo (talk) 15:04, 21 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Boilerplate

[edit]

Could someone expand upon this a bit? I read the novel, found it hilarious, but it never dawned on me that Boilerplate could even be real, given the general ludicrosity of the entire novel (one scene features Teddy Roosevelt being correctly identified over his doppelganger by his genital piercing, for example). Having never heard of Boilerplate myself, it seemed like something Elliott would've made up. Is the issue, then, that Elliott essentially used someone else's idea thinking it was fact? And what is the deal with the "financial settlement?" How much money did the Boilerplate people have to give Elliott? If you're going to try and perpetrate a hoax, you'd better be willing to deal with the consequences... Wencer 17:40, 3 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Letterman appearances

[edit]

I added some memorable guest appearances on Letterman. Letterman seems to book him whenever he needs a guest in a pinch and knowing Elliott will always come through.Editingfiend 07:19, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Australian guy

[edit]

I removed two prominent references to a different Australian actor. He should have his own article, Christopher Elliott (which does not currently exist)

Commercials

[edit]

I remember Chris Elliott doing a few commercials for Frito Lay (I think) in the 90s. They were very funny and might be worth mentioning. The tag line for them was "Really? No, not really", if anyone else remembers. --Jelsova (talk) 01:23, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Profile pic

[edit]

That profile pic has an awful lot of unnecessary cleavage. Would it be possible to edit out the left 1/3 or the photo? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.121.159.19 (talk) 05:49, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
