congenital adrenal insufficiency

[edit]

I took it from the OMIM record, I believe. As you scroll it down it shows a couple of associations, with references; you can transfer them to the article using Diberri's tool for example. Best regards, --CopperKettle 16:33, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ref. 4 Bhangoo et al. reviews the pre-2006 cases of side chain cleavage deficiency in OMIM; so for brevity, I use this and the 2008 paper you found by Kim et al. and a 2006 paper from OMIM. Skingski (talk) 17:11, 24 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

order issue

[edit]

Tissue Distribution is before Mechanism of Action which is fine, except the currently edited article discusses the cholesterol side-chain cleavage system in the Tissue Distribution section before the concept is intro'd in the Mechanism section. Can't we simply discuss the distribution of P450scc instead of mentioning that of adrenodoxin and adrenodoxin reductase and leave the distribution info on the last 2 to their own Wiki pages? We could simply mention in the Mechanism section that they are fairly ubiquitous and thus wherever P450scc is, you get the capability to make steroid. Missing O

[edit]

An oxygen is missing from the reaction in the lede. Also in the body it says isocaproic acid leaves, not 4-methypentanal, and that would have the correct number of O's.

Wording re: nomenclature

[edit]

In the lead of the article it originally said that scc is an "acronym" for side-chain cleavage. However, I believe this to be incorrect; an acronym is an initialization that can be pronounced as a word, and since I can't see how one would pronounce "scc" as a word, I changed it from "acronym" to "abbreviation" which I feel is more correct. If there is significant disagreement on this you may feel free to rever it. Lumberjane Lilly (talk) 16:17, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
