[edit]- This issue is currently being debated. See the following for a review:
Olszewska E, Wagner M, Bernal-Sprekelsen M, Ebmeyer J, Dazert S, Hildmann H, Sudhoff H (2004). "Etiopathogenesis of cholesteatoma". Eur Arch Otorhinolaryngol. 261 (1): 6–24. PMID 12835944.{{cite journal}}
: CS1 maint: multiple names: authors list (link)--Zyryab 14:29, 206 March 2006 (UTC) - The above article does not suport the view that cholesteatomas are neoplastic. A quote from the conclusion : "Cholesteatoma is a wound-healing process rather than a neoplastic lesion. Research to date does not indicate any genetic instability in cholesteatomas, which is a critical feature of malignant lesions."

- ==Trivia==
