Place of birth

[edit]

The Chinese article says he is from Ryongch'ŏn County (龍川郡) in North Pyongan. Perhaps he was born in 태천군 and grew up in 룡천군?

As for the dates of birth and death, I have added those found at Naver to those that were already in the article. Wikipeditor 01:51, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look in a 북한인명사전 today and noticed there is more than one important North Korean person whose name might be written ‹Choi Yongk*n›, so I'll try and fix this when I have some time. The 북한인명사전 also had 태천군 as POB, not 룡천군. Wikipeditor 18:34, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vice premier of that name was allegedly executed in May[1] --176.2.108.202 (talk) 15:35, 12 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Birth and death dates

[edit]

This article needs an explanation as to why two different dates are given. Evil Monkey - Hello 01:52, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 04:31, 23 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Others with that name

[edit]

Recent news reports state that the former Vice-President of the DPRK by the name of Choe Yong-gon was executed earlier this year. I will make an educated guess that the two are related, most likely as father and son, since the Vice-President is described as being 63 years old, which would fit this individual's time line. Or am I confusing him with someone who might be related to Choe Yong-rim? More research is obviously needed on DPRK leadership -- a volatile topic, it appears.
