Can anyone confirm the origin of the term? The statement "from the Russian chion meaning snow, and -phile meaning lover" doesn't seem right to me. Although some research shows the word was coined by the Russian naturalist Alexander Formozov, it seems suspicious that this page was edited to say that chion, and subsequently -phile, is a Russian word.
