Merging
[edit]This article should not be merged into Southern Chinese wedding. Personal experience with these largely undocumented rituals and consequential discussions with friends shows these traditions, while intensely practiced by Southern Chinese, have spread to many other parts of China. Bride price is especially beloved across all China and has taken on a new and enhanced role in wedding traditions throughout, especially as public flaunting of cash is increasingly coveted as another way of flaunting the family name. Regionalism
[edit]It would be worth checking if this is applicable to all regions of China (I am rather confident that it’s not). From the transliterations it seems that these are mostly Cantonese customs.
More specifically, I would also consider mentioning that these are Han Chinese customs that don’t necessarily apply to other minority ethnicities of China
I am happy to proceed with making amendments to the article, but don’t have the bandwidth to carry all this out by myself.
