Criticism?
[edit]There is nothing in the article about the practice of killing innocent young women when the supply of ghost brides runs short.[1] Viriditas (talk) 06:41, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
Current practice?
[edit]The article does not elaborate on current practice. In addition to the link posted by Viriditas, I refer to this article: [2] Certainly, a comprehensive survey is needed to cover current practice. If sufficient and trustable information is found, criticism may be then raised. Ntalamai (talk) 21:29, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Since it is not a legally recognized marriage some may choose to do it as a memorial, but most (at least those who live in non-remote villages) people whose fiance/e died before marriage just hold a funeral instead. As for few man marrying his dead fiancee, I read an article recently documenting such incidence http://news.wenxuecity.com/BBSView.php?SubID=news&MsgID=1009237 However it is unlikely that the man involved is doing it for traditional reasons and rather he is just grieving for his fiancee.

This seems to have happened to the victim in the famous "My dad is Li Gang case", as can be seen here and is how I came to this article. ("Shortly after they got home, Chen Xiaofeng was 'married' to a local boy who had died recently, and on the 7th, her body was buried")

Link to Ghost marriage
[edit]@Damiens.rf: The problem with a direct link to Ghost marriage is that it is a disambiguation page - see the tags on both the article and the talk page. Direct links to DAB pages get caught by bots and flagged as errors (see WP:INTDABLINK), and have to be eyeballed. The approved way to link to it is through Ghost marriage (disambiguation) - which ends up in the same place, but isn't counted among the 40,000-odd bad links to DAB pages which Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation regulars are trying to do something about. - Ghost marriage (Chinese) → Chinese ghost marriage
- Ghost marriage (Sudanese) → Ghost marriage in South Sudan
– per WP:NATURAL. The Chinese version is practiced by ethnic Chinese outside of China, hence "Chinese" and not "in China". The Sudanese article was written before the independence of South Sudan, hence the change to "South Sudan". — AjaxSmack 01:53, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
