New Religious Movement

This is a religious movement which happens to be new, which does not seem remotely like a cult, so it is not called a new religious movement? Is that it? Are we just using "new religious movement" as a euphemism for "manipulative/undue influence group" (i.e. cult) rather than meaning "religious movement which happens to be new"?

It's just interesting that the cult who kidnapped members of this genuine religion (as soon as you kidnap someone it's pretty clear you are a cult) is called a new religious movement, but this one is not.
