Update on the information on the Socioeconomic status item.
Socioeconomic status Researching on the information presented in the area of Socioeconomic status I would like to update the information presented because I found a data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2005 -2008 that completely eliminates this information with “Low income children and adolescents are more likely to be obese than their higher income counterparts, but the relationship is not consistent across race and ethnicity groups”. Recent information according to the article mentioned above states, “Obesity and overweight in children and adolescents its association with the education of the head of household and the variation of poverty income ratio (PIR)”. Australian researchers develop a model to predict infant obesity risk
Researchers at the University of Queensland in Australia have developed a model that can predict the risk of infant obesity in childhood.
Xinhua News Agency reported that the researchers said that by analyzing indicators including the baby’s weight change in the first year after birth, sleep conditions, the mother’s height and weight before pregnancy, the father’s height and weight, whether the mother was born prematurely, and whether the mother smoked during pregnancy, this model can predict Will children be at risk of obesity when they are 8 to 9 years old?
The research report, published in the Australian Journal of Pediatrics and Child Health, said that this model was verified with data from nearly 2,000 children in Western Australia from birth to 9 years old. The results showed that its prediction accuracy rate can reach 74.6. %.
One of the model developers, Dr. Canfer from the University of Queensland Health Research Center, said that identifying infants who are at high risk of obesity in childhood helps families take active preventive measures as early as possible. With age, childhood obesity patients are likely to also face obesity problems in adulthood.
The researchers said that this model needs further verification. If its effectiveness can be verified again, it can be put into clinical use as soon as possible to help prevent childhood obesity.Source
