Generalizations
[edit]The section about the stages of child art are descriptive, but they contain some statements that may be interpreted as generalizations of all children. It's not a huge concern, but it could use some cleanup. --Gray Porpoise 01:14, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Age of 12?
[edit]Who decided that 12 years old is the limit? Is that a generally agreed-upon definition, and if so, source? --Dingbats (talk) 16:11, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

The Criticisms Section
[edit]The Criticisms section quotes John Holt on how child's art is an adult invention, but doesn't elaborate on what this means. I think this could do with an expansion and clarification. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.98.220.253 (talk) 13:51, 28 December 2021 (UTC)
Updates to the page
[edit]Hi, I'm looking to make the following changes to this page:
1. I find the intro does not fit with the scope of the article. It quickly narrows the focus to psychological interpretations when that is only a subsection of the article. Franz Cižek did use the term early on but due to the multiple interpretations of child art it seems misleading to put him as the sole creator of the term. I plan to expand the introduction with some more general information on child art so that it encompasses the entire article.
2. Embedding multimedia elements throughout the article, ie. video and audio clips that correspond to child art. These elements could include videos of children engaged in the artistic process, demonstrating how they express emotions and ideas through various mediums or audio clips of experts discussing the significance of art in childhood development.
3. Including an overview of the historical and/or cultural variation in art by children, under “History” (creating subheadings to separate history of the study of the phenomena and of the evolution of child art). Including examples of important child artists throughout history, under a new heading.
4. Adding more citations to reliable sources, and to the “further reading” section. Emphasizing the addition of scholarly works, including a variety of works on “types of child art” and the definition of “child art”.
Let me know what you think about these changes! Nickcholmsky (talk) 19:04, 11 November 2024 (UTC)
