Original list
[edit]Note to other editors: The original list was taken from the Cubs official website, and includes players who were on the 40 man roster but never appeared in a game. As we find them, they should be removed, as this list is for players who appeared in at least one game. Thanks! Kathy A. 15:13, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
1871
[edit]The 1871 team was close to winning the first league pennant when its home ballpark was lost to a fire ;-)
Three of the eleven players need only "1871" in their listings because they were present and in the same roles when the club returned to competition in 1874.
Eight of them are not listed. Here are suggested listings as "Cubs".
- Ed Duffy, SS, 1871
- Tom Foley (outfielder), OF/C, 1871
- Charlie Hodes, C, 1871
- Marshall King, OF/C, 1871
- Bub McAtee, 1B, 1871
- Ed Pinkham, 3B/P, 1871
- Joe Simmons, OF, 1871
- Jimmy Wood, 2B, 1871
This suggested listing for Foley distinguishes him from Tom Foley (baseball). I have added him to the tomfoley disambiguation too.
The links are now seven blue and four red. The blue are all in Category:Chicago White Stockings players. P64 (talk) 19:24, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
