[edit]- I think we should remove the disadvantage, "It may need to be removed from holster if another smart card nearby" because this is a disadvantage of the technology, not the Chicago Card, and unlike the other disadvantages, is not a system flaw or something that hinders or discourages the Cards' use.99.135.192.55 (talk) 00:37, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
Just a quick note that NYC has the MetroCard, which is similar to our Chicago Card. Their website is http://mta.info/. CaponeX 03:49, 10 January 2006 (UTC)
- Umm.. no. NYC MetroCards are all magstriped cards a la Transit Cards. (I have box full of them from my many trips to Manhattan over the past six years, with the most recent trip a few months ago.) Even MTA's website shows magstripe cards. Diff is in the turnstile; you swipe it through in a manner like a credit card rather than the dip like an ATM machine. Also, I don't really see the need for this article, when the CTA's main article has the most pertinent content (and doesn't read like PR). D.valued 09:08, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Capitalization?
[edit]Is there some Wikipedia naming convention that's prevented the move of this page from Chicago card to Chicago Card, all caps? "Chicago Card" as a phrase is a proper noun in all CTA info about it and the card isn't typically called just "Chicago." -- SmokeDetector47( TALK ) 03:35, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- You are correct... I moved it. —JeremyA 03:55, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
Phasing Out of Chicago Cards
[edit]Now that these cards are defunct, I did a quick-and-dirty rewrite of the article to shift most of it into past tense. The article can still be improved (as it is important to have a record of what these cards were like) and the writing should probably be streamlined; I just wanted to nudge us in the right direction of treating these cards as defunct/historic rather than current fare media.
