How to cite urls
[edit]Hi Noopur,
Urls are ugly! Use the web cite template to beautify them! A convenient form of the web cite template is :
<ref name="">{{cite web |url= |title= |author= |date= |work= |publisher= |accessdate=18 December2011}}</ref>
Hence if I take http://www.travelindia360.net/at-the-manchester-of-the-east.html and cloak it, it looks like this in Wikitext -
<ref name="TravelIndia369">{{cite web |url=http://www.travelindia360.net/at-the-manchester-of-the-east.html |title=At The Manchester Of The East |author= |date=7 January 2010 |work=Travel India 369 |publisher= |accessdate=18 December2011}}</ref>
and if use it as a reference here,[1] it produces this version in the reflist below -
- ^ Unattributed (7 January 2010). "At The Manchester Of The East". Travel India 369. Retrieved 18 December2011.
{{cite web}}
: Check date values in:|accessdate=

Another lesson for me! Yaay :) Thanks for reviewing it and teaching me how to beautify my article. I am glad my article wasn't deleted like other n00bs'. Will follow tips and tricks and leave some cookies by your doorstep :) Thanks AshLin Noopur28 (talk) 18:47, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
- Wrt new articles, if you add the following, very unlikely that your new article will be deleted -
- A short paragraph rather than just a sentance. The paragraph not only explains the article tile but also its WP:NOTABILITY.
- At least one reference, preferably more.
- At least one category to article page. It takes a little experience/common sense to know what category(ies) to add.
- At least one stub template to article page. It takes a little experience/common sense to know what stub template(s) to add.
- At least one WikiProject banner on talk page. The banner for WikiProject India is a must for articles about India/of concern to Indians.
- Happy editing. :) AshLin (talk) 19:14, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
