Cheyne or Cheynes
[edit]Is it Cheyne or Cheynes? Even http://inherit.stateheritage.wa.gov.au/Public/Places/AggregateDetails?IsCurrentlyStateRegistered=False&SearchToken=31ac006a-7187-4604-bbb3-872a9ba49e09&placeNo=3644 is not consistent about. Mitch Ames (talk) 08:20, 9 August 2015 (UTC)
- I think it's Cheynes. The sources that refer to the company or the beach as Cheyne appear to be simply wrong - eg the above source appears simply to have a typo in the heading - and the sources that refer to one or both of the two dive wrecks always refer to them as Cheynes. - As for the other whale chaser, Cheynes IV, see this photo. Bahnfrend (talk) 14:05, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
- Both names are used in the references, sometimes even interchangeably. Many locals refer to Cheyne Beach (at Frenchmans Bay) and Cheynes Beach (near Waychinicup) also seemingly interchangeably. A redirect page already exists.Hughesdarren (talk) 11:10, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
- If nothing else, the article ought to explicitly state (possibly as a footnote) that the two names are used interchangeably by the refs - so that the reader is aware that the editors are not just being sloppy. (No offence intended to the editors, but without an explanation, the discrepancy does look like poor editing.) Mitch Ames (talk) 11:26, 25 August 2015 (UTC)
