Requested move
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of the proposal. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the proposal was Move Anthony Appleyard (talk) 22:45, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- Another editor recently moved this disambiguation page from Chevron to this title, and redirected Chevron to the section of Bracket relating to the punctuation marks < and >. The move was unexplained, and it does not appear to me that the punctuation marks qualify as a primary topic for this title. Therefore, I propose to reverse the move. Please comment below. --Russ (talk) 10:37, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- Support. No basis for the punctuation marks being the primary topic. PC78 (talk) 13:24, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- Support Apart from the fact that there's no evidence its the primary topic, there's now no easy way to navigate to Chevron (disambiguation) if the bracket is not what you are looking for. Llamasharmafarmerdrama (talk) 16:29, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- Support There are definate arguments for things like Chevron the company being equally 'popular' Narson (talk) 22:00, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Explanation needed
[edit]Land form explanation could use some etymology. Cheuron similar to Spanish Cuerno, Dutch Horn, Latin Cornu, English Corner. Possible Semitic influence Haron or Aharon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.150.218.221 (talk) 05:53, 9 November 2009 (UTC)
Problem with broken link produced by template "wiktionarypar"
[edit]Template {{wiktionarypar|chevron}} produces the link http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Chevron (uppercase "c"). This link is broken. The lowercase version, http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/chevron, is OK. --Mortense (talk) 14:18, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
- This seems to be a recently introduced problem. See the initial capitalization discussion, "The problem is just a few days old. We are aware of the problem and people are working to fix it." --Mortense (talk) 14:22, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
Criticism
[edit]By my count the article is currently about 47% criticism, vs. A maximum of "substantially less than 50%" prescribed by WP:CRITICISM. Some of the criticism is a little overdone, such as extensive discussion of plantiff's claims that have been rejected by the courts. In coming days I plan to streamline this material to focus it on the most widely covered criticisms found in reliable sources, giving weight according to the prominence of such criticism in said reliable sources. Chevron flooring plank]
[edit]Are these things notable enough to be mentioned on this page? https://www.google.com/search?q=chevron+flooring+planks&tbm=isch Akeosnhaoe (talk) 09:30, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
- As it is a disambiguation page, the notability test is easy: does it have an article? it doesn't, so it isn't. (In any case, isn't just a laying pattern? See Herringbone pattern. I suppose that could go into a See Also?) --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 11:28, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Rank insignia
[edit]The Rank insignia article does not contain the word "chevron" and does not depict any chevron symbols, so it fails WP:DABMENTION. The article at Chevron (insignia) discusses such uses, so it should suffice by itself without including a link to Rank insignia. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:06, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
