Chevy Chase
[edit]The Chevy Chase article seems to imply that the Cheviot Hills are also called "Chevy Chase." Is this correct? Badagnani 06:05, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
- This may have been a term used historically, but to the best of my knowledge, the Cheviot Hills are not referred to today as "Chevy Chase" in any context other than the Ballad. J mcquillen (talk) 12:39, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Mount Cheviot
[edit]Despite a lot of familiarity with British hills I have never heard the name Mount Cheviot before reading this article - not saying it hasn't been used as an alternative to 'The Cheviot' but can this name be referenced? Geopersona (talk) 19:14, 2 September 2010 (UTC)
- Agreed - I've lived in the county for 30 years, and have never heard it called 'Mount' Cheviot before. It also seems to appear as 'The Cheviot' or just Cheviot on maps. I have therefore removed the reference to 'Mount Cheviot', but please feel free to add back in if suitable references can be given.--J mcquillen (talk) 22:38, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
- Disagree - born in Northumberland, lived in Northumberland for 40 years and have often heard and referred to Cheviot as 'Mount Cheviot'... perhaps it is something unique to Tynedale rather than the Wooler area, but the reference to 'Mount' does exist. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.227.44.153 (talk • contribs) 14:31, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
- I think it should be out, and stay out, unless a reliable source can be produced for this usage. If it is in regular use then I am sure this is well-documented. Best to all DBaK (talk) 14:11, 25 November 2020 (UTC)
- Agree it is not Mount Cheviot it is just 'The Cheviot' (on all maps) although some people may call it a 'Mount' this is colloquial rather than factual. 92.26.69.141 (talk) 07:40, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

Conquered by motorcycle?
[edit]I'm not sure that this is a noteable event and certainly not for the introductory text - as for the notion of 'conquering' - I'd say that was inappropriate. If these guys took the machine up there as part of their job than that's one thing - sources ought to be found - an particularly for the bits in italics which are speculative. Regrettably there is much physical damage being done to certain British hills by illegal or irresponsible use of motorbikes - not to mention the noise intrusion - and not something to celebrate as 'conquest'. cheers Geopersona (talk) 09:24, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
What constitutes the Cheviots? 500m+ peaks
[edit]Was wondering where the Western boundary of the Cheviots is located and why that happens to be the boundary... in other words does Kielder constitute part of the Cheviots and if not why not? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 151.227.44.153 (talk • contribs) 14:31, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
