Questions
[edit]Is his full name "Chet Lam Yat Fung"? Should the article be moved? And which is his patronymic (or last name)? And are the references provided in the "Personal life" section in Chinese? I've added that they are, but am a racist westerner that can't tell some languages apart. Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 16:20, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- About his name, "Lam Chet" is his pseudonym while "Lam Yat Fung" is the full name. "Chet Lam Yat Fung" is completely inappropriate in either traditions since pen name and full name should not be combined to address someone. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 02:05, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- "Lam Chet" or "Chet Lam"? I guess I'm confused as to what should be the name of the article and how he should be referred to in the article. -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 06:45, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
- Lam is the last name. Chet is the English name. Lam yat fung is the cantonese romanization of his Chinese name. The article should be at Chet Lam, since that is the real English name. Benjwong (talk) 23:32, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

"Chet Lam" is his English name, 林一峰 (Lam Yat Fung in Cantonese) is his Chinese name. If you see "Chet Lam Yat Fung" written anywhere, it is because in recent years, it has become a popular thing to do to write your name in that format. As in, writing your English given name, then followed by your Chinese full name. But this is usually used in more official capacities, so for example, you'll often see Donald Tsang's name written as "Donald Tsang Yam Kuen".
