Discredited 'race' theories
[edit]I tagged the article because not only does it appear to contain a large amount of original research, it also seems to rely heavily on discredited race theories popular in the late 19th and early 20th century. These theories are at odds with our current understanding of human genetic history, and are fundamentally inadequate in describing the complex geographic variation in human physical traits.--Pondle (talk) 18:17, 27 June 2010 (UTC)
Hair and eye color?
[edit]One statement in the article is as follows: "Chestnut hair is frequently associated with light skin and lighter eye colors (blue, green, gray, and hazel), but there are many darker chestnut-haired individuals with light to medium brown eyes."
I am someone with chestnut hair and naturally DARK brown eyes, not light or medium brown eyes. The wording of the sentence above makes it sound like my phenotype is impossible. Also, the "darker" qualifier isn't exactly specified - do they mean darker-skinned individuals, or darker chestnut haired individuals? Either way, I'm pale-skinned and medium chestnut haired, so it still makes my phenotype sound impossible, but my existence proves it obviously isn't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.117.233.217 (talk) 22:17, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Picture and Skin and Eye Colors
[edit]The posted picture of Elena Risteska is that of her with plain brown hair. However, chestnut hair has red tones, which the posted picture of Elena Risteska lacks, in largely brown hair. I know this because my friend has dark chestnut hair. Here is an example of light chestnut hair: http://wigsite.com/wigs/r_impressive.jpg
Also, it's true that not everyone who possesses chestnut hair has pale skin and pale eyes. It's bigoted to think otherwise because today's world consists of people with diverse gene pools, and my friend with the dark chestnut hair doesn't have pale skin and pale eyes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.59.73.33 (talk) 03:32, 10 August 2011 (UTC)
income level
[edit]chestnut if you're poor, brown if you're slightly wealthier, and auburn if you're rich. CallieMacPherson (talk) 02:25, 13 May 2012 (UTC)
Merger proposal
[edit]I propose that Chestnut hair be merged into Brown hair. I think that the content in the Chestnut hair article can easily be explained in the context of Brown hair, and the Brown hair article is of a reasonable size in which the merging of Chestnut hair will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. 70.15.11.44 (talk) 07:29, 18 May 2012 (UTC)
- But what about Auburn hair and Fawn (color)? Fawn is found in Chinese/Asian blondes. Auburn is found in Red hair. I am not fawn. I am black! I would rather be Black hair! That is me. This is me. BLACK! Goths may not be fawn, they'll rather be black, because they are Caucasian. 24.211.222.87 (talk) 13:25, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
