Shipwreck of the Chesterfield

[edit]

The list of shipwrecks suggests that the Chesterfield (1791 ship) that gave its name to Chesterfield Islands is also wrecked there. Is that true? The ship's own article says that it was captured by the Spanish in 1806, so it seems quite a coincidence it would have later have been brought half way round the world to sink on the same uninhabited islands that had been named after it a decade earlier.

The ship has been listed since 2007 and gives a book by Loney as a source, but I can't check it.

OK to remove the reference? Edbrims (talk) 08:57, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
