Disambiguitation necessary

[edit]

There is another musician called Chester Thompson, known as keyboarder of Tower Of Power (in the 70s) and of Santana (1983-2009) [1]. --92.75.3.67 (talk) 09:39, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Just added a distinguish hatnote. However, even before noticing your message, I came over here because I had something to say regarding the discography. I used to check out a website years ago which contained detailed discographies of all of Zappa's sidemen. That was years before one of my more recent lengthy absences from the Internet, so I have no idea if it still exists or not.RadioKAOS (talk) 02:07, 7 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The Grammy sections at the bottom seem to refer to the other Chester Thompson (with Santana) Mdz (talk) 15:08, 9 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The Santana album credit ("Beyond Appearances") should be removed, that's Chester D on keyboards. Interestingly, these two guys are in the same band of genres, both of them come from a jazz-rock background. Chester the drummer may actually have worked with Santana live at some point in the eighties, but not on any studio recordings. 83.251.170.27 (talk) 13:27, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Whitewashing/Racism

[edit]

I find it very strange that the photo of Chester is a terribly lit picture that doesn't show he is black. It makes him look white and I find it racist. There are many other photos of him that properly show that he is black. It is of historical significance that he was able to drum for bands so early after the Civil Rights act.

I think it is significant to show that he is black, although maybe a better phrasing is to show he isn't white. It is so strange to me that of all the photos of him, the one chosen is the one where you can't tell he is black. We should be celebrating contributions of black people to music, not hiding it behind photos lit with only blue light. I don't know the process for determining the photos wikipedia uses on biographies, but this is not acceptable.
