The article compares Xerography to Mimeography, but the comparison isn't right. There were some wet chemistry based systems, similar to those used for film photography, in the years before Xerox. That is, based on silver halide photography, for which the company that became Xerox was originally named. There was also Thermofax, but that could not be used on books, without tearing out the pages. But very common in schools in the early years of Xerography was using a Thermofax machine to produce a master for a spirit duplicator from a single xerographic copy. That is, from when Xerox machines were rented with the monthly charge based on copies produced. Gah4 (talk) 01:35, 27 January 2020 (UTC)
