Redirect

The article doesn't need to be deleted, just redirected. She's still only notable for one event and should be redirected back to her list entry until her single has been released and has charted (there's not that long to wait). WP:1E applies here. - JuneGloom Talk 19:07, 19 July 2011 (UTC)

She is clearly notable a quick look at the number of google hits and articles written about her prove that. If as has been stated its believed she isn't notable then the article should be taken through deletion process. Warburton1368 (talk) 19:15, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
I didn't say she wasn't notable, just that at this time she is only notable for one event. - JuneGloom Talk 19:52, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Because of all the vandalism etc the page has now been fully protected until January 2012.--5 albert square (talk) 19:58, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
The vandalism is from IPs and new accounts, so semi should be enough. It also seems to have been reverted too far, to a redirected version - there is a dispute concerning whether it should be redirected or not, and consensus has not been reached - and the redirect isn't functioning correctly because of the protection template. Peter E. James (talk) 20:27, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Ive left a message on admins talk page as consesus needs to be reached as to whether this should be a redirect or not which cant happen whilst is redirected. Warburton1368 (talk) 20:34, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
If she's not had a single released then I agree with June above. --5 albert square (talk) 20:49, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Irrespective the debate must be allowed to go ahead. With the redirect in place it leads you away from the talk page so unless already bookmarked people whilst not be given the chance. The amount of users that have reverted from the redirect to the article and sources available would indicate she is notable and to not allow the debate to proceed is not in good faith. If she genuinely isnt notable then it should be nominated for deletion. By not you are acknowledging that to some degree she is notable. Warburton1368 (talk) 20:53, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Agree that the redirect needs to be discussed. There's currently no consensus for keeping the page as it is. JonChappleTalk 10:46, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
It's not like there's no information about Cher Lloyd. Until her single charts somewhere, she's only notable for a single event: being a contestant on The X Factor. Stacey Solomon did not have an article until she won I'm a Celebrity..., when she was notable for a second thing. Until such time as her single charts, her list entry is sufficient for people wanting to read and/or write about Cher Lloyd. This is how it has always been for X Factor contestants. –anemoneprojectors12:07, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
She clearly passes the general notability guidelines and as Wikipedia stated in the notable for I event. As the event grows bigger or the persons role in it grows they may be eligible for there own article. As she passes gng and I feel that with the number of sources available for her she clearly is eligible for her own standalone article. Warburton1368 (talk) 14:03, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
But as she has a list entry, there's really no need to do anything until she becomes notable for a second thing. We could have articles for all the X Factor contestants, but we decided that BLP1E should always apply. GNG is satisfied by her list entry. –anemoneprojectors14:03, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
A second event isn't necessary - the requirement is for significant coverage that is not just within the context of one event. One problem is that some of the sources used in the article were not reliable, and that the rumours and gossip make it more difficult to find suitable coverage from reliable sources. Peter E. James (talk) 17:47, 21 July 2011 (UTC)

This redirect is lazy and ridiculous. Application of WP:1E is not appropriate, given that the event is over, and her coverage continues. The "no entry until you release a charting single" rule, has been completely made up and on this talk page just to set the bar beyond the subject's reach. It doesn't matter if the single charts or not, but whether there is reliable critical commentary on it, which there is already. Wikipedia is not the finished article, it's not about making sure we have a polished shiny exterior. Right now, there are people, new users wanting to write an article on Cher Lloyd and her single. They cannot do it. Sure, they could revert Swagger Jagger away from the redirect, but new users don't even know that they can do that, and chances are some experienced user kills it anyway. This article should not be a protected redirect, this conversation should not be limited to the power users who know that this talk page exists. - hahnchen 16:07, 22 July 2011 (UTC)

Spoken to the admin that fully protected page to ask for it to be downgraded but he do sent see our point of view. which means we need to make a request at WP:RFPP to reduce back to semi protect. I will do thatWarburton1368 (talk) 21:58, 22 July 2011 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure it hasn't always been for X Factor contestants, some acts have articles even if they haven't released anything, but even though she hasn't released anything, the large amount of press coverage should mean something. And it's just two weeks until we find out if it has charted or not, I don't think there is a need to redirect it for that time. 82.46.152.122 (talk) 11:09, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
The consensus appears to be that it should be an article not a redirect if that is the consensus then it should be put back into article space if no one else objects by tonight then we should do that however there must be no edit warring if this happens then it will be redirected and permanently locked again without discussion. Warburton1368 (talk) 11:30, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

(undent) The BLP1E rule was not just made up for Cher Lloyd, it has been applied several other times, to One Direction, Stacey Solomon, Olly Murs just to name a few. Solomon remained a redirect until she won I'm A Celebrity, giving her a second thing to be notable for. WP:NMUSIC states that a musician isn't notable until something has charted (as well as other things). We decided that the placement in a music competition did not apply, as every single X Factor artist would have an article, no matter how notable. So I am not just objecting for this article, this is how it has been with X Factor contestants for many years on Wikipedia. I don't believe there are other artists who have articles who are not notable for a second thing outside of The X Factor. –anemoneprojectors13:28, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Charted record is not a requirement, it is only one possible criterion. It's possible that criteria 1 and 11 are met, and as I mentioned above, that although the notability is because of one event (X Factor), some of the recent coverage (most of it because of the single) extends beyond that context. Peter E. James (talk) 14:27, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
The ongoing coverage proves that her notability extends beyond the x factor. There is a lot of ongoing press on her way beyond the finish of the xfactor. Which means as stated above she is notable for her own article in her own right not just a redirect to the xfactor of which she is no longer a contestant of. WP:NMUSIC music also dosent apply as a reason because she passes GNG in her own right so is entitled to her own article even if she doesn't meet WP:NMUSIC as gng always over rules the wiki project. Warburton1368 (talk) 15:22, 23 July 2011 (UTC)
As per consensus article has been reverted to article do not revert back to redirect without a change in consensus. Warburton1368 (talk) 21:29, 23 July 2011 (UTC)

Not to be Confused With Cher

Can we delete the "Not to be Confused With Cher"? I don't think anyone is going to get her confused with Cher because her name is Cher Lloyd, which is different than "Cher". In the career section you should put a picture of Cher Lloyd before a picture of Cheryl Cole because when a Google user searches Cher Lloyd a picture of Cheryl Cole is shown on the Wikipedia bio section instead of Cher Lloyd. About Cher's tattoos: She has a music note on her hand which she got when she was 16. That was her first tattoo. She says 'I was actually at school and had a lunch break so my mom took me to get a tattoo at a local artist’s house and then I went straight back.' She has a bird on her right arm and a birdcage on her left one as a memorial to her uncle's death. She says 'I remember growing up my uncle always had birds, and I thought that it would be interesting to do something different other than getting his name tattooed on me. I thought there was something special about leaving the cage door open and having the bird fly out the other side.' She has a bow on one of her fingers, a Dia de Los Muertos skull, the lyrics to You Are My Sunshine and butterflies. She has about 20 tattoos.
