What do you call them?
[edit]What do you call someone from Cheney?
Edit* We tend to jokingly refer to ourselves as cheney-ites —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.118.113.233 (talk) 21:21, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
Pronounciation of the Cheney
[edit]The City of Cheney is pronounced in a way that sounds like Cheeeneeey or Chee-knee, not like the name of past Vice President of the United States, Dick Cheney(Chayney). Whoever keeps changing it to the wrong pronunciation, please leave it alone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.61.9.66 (talk) 00:03, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
207.118.113.233 (talk) 21:23, 5 July 2010 (UTC)I share in his frustration.....if I hear one more person say chaynee WA again I might explode
As a matter of trivial note, the now former Vice-President Dick Cheney, his wife Lynne, daughters Elizabeth and Mary, the rest of his family, MSNBC host Chris Matthews, and the entire state of Wyoming, correctly pronounce their family name as "Chee-knee", exactly as those of us that grew up in the Puget Sound area pronounce the city and stadium that is home to the Tacoma Rainiers (Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners since 1995).TECH420 (talk) 04:15, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
INformation on or around Cheney
[edit]The City of Cheney sits in both a historical and current crossroads for people. It is located in one of the camp site/pass through areas for Naive Americans. The railroad station was selected for this when it was originally built and now people from all over the west plains centralize in Cheney and proceed from there in their daily lives. All of the data you keep deleting helps to present the picture of Cheney and the greater area it occupies, that it's residents interact with daily on a repeated basis. By deleting this relevant and directly associated information from the page, which many users have added, edited and contributed to, yes, you are undertaking vandalism so please stop it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.17.245.45 (talk) 16:38, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
What do members of the school board have to do with history of cheney? every city and town has a school board with members, and nobody has them listed on their pages with the times and places they meet, because it is not important information, that is not information that belongs on this site, that is information that belongs on the school district website. Items listed as in cheney are not even close to cheney (little spokane river???, mount spokane???, felts feild???) Every city has a planning board, fire department and police department, building department, and parks department that is useless information that takes up space. Bloomsday and hoopfest are not cheney events, they are spokane events and should not be listed under cheney. detailed directions to get to places are not needed on the article, make seprate articles with links for them under cheney. You are wasting space with to much useless information, half of which did not even pertain to cheney, I should know, I was born and raised here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.170.193.2 (talk) 08:54, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
I was born and raised in Cheney too, and for anyone who want to know fully about the town, its history, how it runs and where it is going can find it in one spot on this web page. Additionally, Cheny is an integral bedroom community, and extension of spokane so all of the "Spoknae" events are cheny events and happenings too. Get off your high horse and check your ego at the door, you have no idea if the other person who is writing or editing this is from Cheny or not. I have been editing this page for over two ans hlaf years, so settle down johnny come lately. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.17.245.45 (talk) 15:39, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
congrats on editing this page for two and a half years you want an award for that? All that shows is that you have no life. Yet again, you are no listening to my point, these things I am removing have NOTHING TO DO WITH CHENEY!!! These places are not near cheney. The information you keep putting on here is usless information. Get off your high horse little man, and like I said, make SEPARATE SECTIONS FOR THIS INFORMATION LIKE EVERY OTHER CITY DOES ON THEIR PAGE!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.170.193.2 (talk) 10:03, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
The people who state that the way to pronounce the name Cheney as Cheenee are toally wrong the name come from france and is pronounced as shenay or in english Chaynay spelling Cheney. I have made a study of the name as I am called Peter Cheney, and the name comes from Britany in northern France. The first recording of the name was in 1069 when a Ruffus Cheney came to England after the Norman Conquest of 1066 and I 'm sure the first reconding of the name in America was in the 17th Century when a William Cheney came over from England. Perhap the City Father of Cheney should change thier biography of thier City —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.134.63.18 (talk) 15:29, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
207.118.113.233 (talk)for the person above me who is so learned in the names from france......Hate to break it to you, but you just insulted 17,000 people who live there and pronounce it wrong......its weird, but many words have more then one etymology. —Preceding undated comment added 21:25, 5 July 2010 (UTC).

When did Cheney become a metropolitan area?
[edit]Somebody really loves this city. I was born here and graduated high school here, this city is not that interesting. This Article is as long as some of the major cities in the country. A lot of information seems to drag on also, seems like it could be shortened and make it a little easier to read. Also seems like there is a lot of information that really has nothing to do with Cheney but instead should belong in the Spokane city or Spokane County pages. If I did not have a job and a life I might take the time to fix it, but it looks like someone sits at home and makes sure no changes - by the way that person also needs to learn to spell and proof read and also take some grammar classes, all your errors make you look kind of irrelevant - can be made on this site after reading the discussion page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.22.43.233 (talk) 22:33, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Bazookas?
[edit]The section on the "Grand steal" refers to Cheneyites armed with bazookas, but I have no idea what this would have referred to in the 1880s. Could someone with knowledge of this episode or 19th century firearms clear this up? Justinleif (talk) 06:14, 3 June 2016 (UTC)

Vandalism
[edit]Someone went through and threw in some vandalism. Like bazookas, a few bucks and Garfield comics. I do not feel bold today. 2600:100F:B001:E1CE:853E:9351:AD8F:7C78 (talk) 23:20, 27 March 2017 (UTC)
