The contentious topics procedure applies to this page. This page is related to gender-related disputes or controversies or people associated with them, which has been designated as a contentious topic. This article should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more trans women. Precedence should be given to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, anywhere in article space, even when it doesn't match what's most common in reliable sources. Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the pronouns, possessive adjectives, and gendered nouns (for example "man/woman", "waiter/waitress", "chairman/chairwoman") that reflect that person's latest expressed gender self-identification. Some people go by singular they pronouns, which are acceptable for use in articles. This applies in references to any phase of that person's life, unless the subject has indicated a preference otherwise. Former, pre-transition names may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses. If material violating this guideline is repeatedly inserted, or if there are other related issues, please report the issue to the LGBTQ+ WikiProject, or, in the case of living people, to the BLP noticeboard. |

Renaming Article
[edit]Am I the only one who feels like there has to be a better way to name this article? "Transgender" feels a little bit too blunt. WhatsImportantToMe (talk) 19:13, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- Both of the Chen Lili articles are poorly disambiguated, because the other one is titled Chen Lili (singer) but this Chen Lili is also a singer. (And the articles aren't crosslinked...) We could name this one "Chen Lili (model)"; that + hatnotes crosslinking the two articles would at least be an improvement. Since the initial move to the current title was made without an RfC/RM, I think we could also BOLDly move the article to that title if you agree that title would be better. (Or someone could undo the initial move, displacing the disambiguation page to Chen Lili (disambiguation) pending a proper RM.) -sche (talk) 21:30, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- I would support this one becoming "(model)". Newimpartial (talk) 23:27, 13 March 2021 (UTC)
- OK, I moved this article, and added hatnotes to both articles. -sche (talk) 01:10, 14 March 2021 (UTC)
- I think this was the right decision, thanks for taking care of that everyone WhatsImportantToMe (talk) 04:16, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

"Hetero-gametic Sex"
[edit]I have never seen this phrase used to describe a trans-woman on Wikipedia or elsewhere. It was added alongside other clarifying language to Chen Lili's being transgender, but I'd like to ask if there is a specific reason for this phrase or if it would be more in line with other articles on wikipedia to remove the allusion from the header, or just replacing it by firmly stating she is a transgender woman (which may be warranted in her specific case).
