Variations

Shouldn't it be mentioned that many people misspell this name as "Chealsea"? 71.253.207.184 20:55, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No. It's a variation of spelling.

Chelsea as a man's name

[edit]

Chelsea is predominantly used by women today, thanks to a popularity spike in the 1980s and early 90s It was a name for men and women much earlier than that (as well as still being in use for men today) as shown by over time here, Chelsea Quealey, Chelsea Roberts, Chelsea Tipton II, and mature guys like Robert Frederick Chelsea "Bobby" Moore and also Chelsea Cook. __Elaqueate (talk) 13:42, 8 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

An important point. Additionally, both English and American English historically and currently rarely limit names to one gender. It feels outdated for a Wikipedia article to classify names in that manner. Especially as it's simply not true.

Are you saying SSA is wrong to say no one was named Chelsea before 1969? I take the assertion to be only that Chelsea then first made the top thousand or so. —Tamfang (talk) 02:49, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
