The page contains pov and original research, particularly on the gang's main constituency. An apparent attempt was also made to connect the present residents of the area in 2013, with this group's members of around thirty years prior. The only link with a non-incidental mention of the group is also a blog. Overall, the page doesn't appear to meet the notability criteria. Middayexpress (talk) 16:47, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Still I can't really see why it is necessary to screw up the article. The information is directly based on what is written in the book Gang War by Peter Walsh, someone who really has knowledge on the organized crime situation in Manchester. Everything is states in the book: the members are of mostly African descent (Nigerian, Somali,...) and are in fact one of the most organized and powerful Black British crime groups ever, worthy to appear alongside the major indigenous crime groups in the country. I strongly encourage you to read all the information (even if you have to pay for the book) BEFORE you decide to tear it to shreds. Begbiepwns (talk) 17:16, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm afraid that's untrue. The book doesn't mention Somalis, let alone indicate that they were a part of some little gang in Cheetham thirty years ago. The web links likewise do not indicate this. There was practically no local Somali community back then. That book also appears to be the only source that mentions the group at all in a non-incidental way; the person who wrote it owns the blog as well. Overall, the page doesn't appear to meet the WP:ORG notability criteria. Middayexpress (talk) 17:44, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well the book also doesn't directly indicate that members are Nigerian, but if you take a look at the names of the members it is clear that gang members are largely Nigerian (Stephen Akinyemi for instance). But I agree with the fact that there isn't a lot of coverage on the Cheetham Hill Mob on the net, even though the book provided a lot of interesting information on them. So I can see why the subject may not meet the notability criteria. Kind regards Begbiepwns (talk) 18:04, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The information was amended to reflect actual FACTS from people (including MYSELF) who have lived in the area for 30+ YEARS and were a part of and witnessed all issues relating to the area and it's gang. These are facts from actual members not taken from books written by people writing hearsay stories and who has never been involved in the area or its members. I was under the impression that Wikipedia dealt with real facts, not hearsay or biased / twisted media publications. To suggest that you may know facts about an area based on the reading of a book (Gang War) is naive. And as stated... the members of the gang are predominatly BLACK, WHITE and MIXED RACE. Why there is an argument over Somali's is laughable since Somali's are Black too remember. But that aside, there have not been in the past, present and likely in the future, ANY Somali members. Your "Peter Walsh" has also NEVER been a member of Cheetham Hill so don't try to make out his word is anything but second guesses and hearsay. You have no idea! But hey, lets ignore the people who were a part of this and instead listen to a book by someone never involved in any of the stated incidents. Ridiculous! — Preceding unsigned comment added by HILLman187 (talk • contribs) 15:38, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@HILLman187: 1) Be aware that you are reopening a conversation that occurred over two years ago. 2) Wikipedia relies on and requires published, reliable sources for everything that appears here. Whatever you or anyone else who lived in Cheetham Hill might know or believe is irrelevant unless some reliable source can be found and cited to make it verifiable, and the inclusion of any content based exclusively on personal knowledge or research is expressly prohibited here.
